Before interviewing Paris Hilton, Meghan Markle opened up about how she "judged" her, admitting that she "envied" the hotel heiress for being "beautiful".
Paris, 41, recently joined the Duchess of Sussex on her Archetypes podcast to discuss the labels "bimbo" and "dumb blonde". In the chat, Paris said she created a character for herself to act as a "mask" when she was younger.
Meghan, 41, then revealed that she felt "objectified" while working as a briefcase girl in Deal or Not Deal.
Now, she revealed she came to the interview with a negative view and said she was "embarrassed" from "a place of judgment."
"I'm embarrassed to admit it, but my judgment of her is based on everything I see, and I don't like coming from a place of judgment.
"But I'm not pretty either," Meghan said in an interview with Variety.
Clarifying what she meant, the suit actress added: "I've been smart since I was a kid.
"When I think of Paris, most of what I end up thinking about is jealousy and judgment – two of the most dangerous things.
"But then you hear about her trauma, her life and her identification with the role."
Meghan said she hoped her interview in Paris would provide her with a "human touch" and said she hoped listeners would leave thinking of the person behind the mask.
In the interview, Paris said she crafted her famous "baby voice" and "silly blonde" look as a way to protect herself.
"It's different when you're on TV – my voice, everything is changing, it's like I'm born with a low voice. But in the show, it gets very high," she said.
"The media has been mean to me, vicious and cruel for so long, which has helped the media in pain.
"That role made me never have to really feel anything."
