Foresters look over and take a look at the national forest pest census

In order to fully grasp the status of forest pests in China and meet the needs of scientific prevention and ecological protection, our bureau has deployed and carried out the national forestry pest census (hereinafter referred to as the "census"), and the census work has been fully completed. The census is hereby announced as follows:

First, the basic situation

According to statistics, this census found a total of 6179 species of forest pests that can cause harm to forest trees, seedlings and other forestry plants and their products, including 5030 species of insects, 726 species of fungi, 21 species of bacteria, 18 species of viruses, 6 species of nematodes, 11 species of phytoplasma, 52 species of rats (rabbits), 76 species of mites, and 239 species of plants.

Second, the occurrence of foreign forestry pests

According to the census, there are 45 species of alien forest pests in China, and compared with the results of the 2006 census, 13 new alien forest pests have been found in this census (see Annex 1 for the specific list of species).

Third, the occurrence of forestry pest species with an area of more than 1 million mu

According to the results of the census, there are 58 species of forest pests with an area of more than 1 million mu (see Annex 2 for a list of specific species).

Fourth, the classification of hazard levels

The census involved 99 species of alien forest pests (45 species) and forest pest species with an area of more than 1 million mu (58 species) (4 of the two types of forest pests). Through the construction of a forestry pest hazard assessment system, 99 species of forest pests were evaluated for harm and divided into 4 hazard levels.
