author:Director of Xiao Han

If it were not for Cixi's bad deeds, he might have let the Japanese people live the Eleventh National Day, and he was Song Yuren, a strange man of the late Qing Dynasty. In 1894, Japan launched a war of aggression against China, repeated temptations and provocations, Song Yuren was originally a scholar, his change of mind, to start from the defeat of the Sino-Japanese War, when Japan concentrated its forces mainly in East Asia, and the Japanese island mainland troops were very weak, Song Yuren plotted a big plan, he wanted to form a fleet, sneak attack on the Japanese island, force Japan to withdraw from China. If Cixi had not stopped him, he would have rewritten the end of the Qing Dynasty and turned Japan into a province of China.

Zhang Zhidong founded the Zun Scripture Academy in Sichuan, and he was one of the students at that time. Because of his outstanding talent, he is known as the "Four Masters of the Scriptures". Later, he was appreciated by Zhang Zhidong and entered the Hanlin Academy, where he wrote three sensational articles during his work at the Hanlin Academy, namely "On Current Affairs", "Three Gifts", and "Outer Articles on Current Affairs". These three articles expound several ideas, the first is that China today wants to implement a constitutional monarchy politically. Second, economically, it is necessary to develop national capitalism and make the country economically strong. Third, militarily, only by actively resisting external humiliation can there be a way out. These views seem to be nothing new now, but at the end of the Qing Dynasty, they were really avant-garde.

In 1849, at the age of 37, Song Yuren was appointed counselor and went to Europe to study and exchange. Along the way, he looked at the new and strange things that made him stunned, he watched everything he saw with hunger and thirst, and carefully recorded it with paper and pencil, including the political, economic, cultural, scientific and technological, military observations of European countries, and wrote the book "Records of the Collected Styles of the Taixi Countries", he hoped to be able to learn from the experience of European countries and use it for us, and when he was full of interest, the Sino-Japanese War broke out and the Qing army was seriously damaged. He was anxious and angry, and from then on he had a terrible plan in mind to assemble a fleet to attack the Japanese islands.

Because at that time, Japan used its national strength to invade China, the weak local troops, coupled with the lack of resources, if Japan was attacked, the Japanese would withdraw their troops from China, giving the Qing army a chance to breathe. Song Yuren has courage and strategy, and immediately discussed this plan with his teacher Zhang Zhidong, and with the help of the teacher. He used his entire fortune as collateral to build a mercenary force and purchase the most advanced weapons, and he and his teacher also analyzed the current Japanese troop deployment, with Nagasaki guarding the most empty and becoming their first choice for attack.

In order to lay siege to Japan, Song Yuren used his entire wealth as collateral and borrowed 3 million pounds (equivalent to more than 1 billion pounds today), and at this time, the country was peaceful, especially in the imperial palace, and they were preparing for Cixi's 60th birthday. Moreover, in order to be able to successfully hold the birthday banquet, the Qing government openly asked the Japanese for peace and armistice, and the two scenes formed a sharp contrast. However, Song Yuren's plan was known to his good friend Gong Zhaoyuan, who thought that Gong Zhaoyuan would help him, but he did not expect to be a plastic brother, and Gong Zhaoyuan immediately made a small report to the Qing court.

Both Empress Dowager Cixi and Li Hongzhang felt that Song Yuren's plan was too absurd, fearing that the failure of the attack would anger the Japanese and might affect their own regime, so they immediately dismissed his officials and recalled him to China. Everything was ready, but the plan to sneak into Japan was in vain, and on the ship back home, he had mixed feelings and wrote down his plan with paper and pen called "Loan Chips".

The Qing government headed by Empress Dowager Cixi wanted to pay compensation to Japan for the cession of land, and Song Yuren gradually disappeared, and no one knows where he went or whether he is still alive. In the end, the surprise attack on Japan was always an idea, and there was no chance of implementation, making it sound absurd. In China at the end of the Qing Dynasty, it was difficult to return from a terminal illness, and it was not a sneak attack that could solve the fundamental problem, but if it succeeded, it would certainly be extremely inspiring, and if we could uphold this belief, we would eventually achieve victory.
