The Leaf Plover ( Scientific name : Chloropsis aurifrons ) is a bird of the family Ornitaceae , the genus Leaf Plover. Body length 16-20 cm. The forehead and the front of the head are golden orange, and the entire upper body includes two wings on the surface of the grass green. The chin and throat are black , with a yellow ring on the periphery , the rest of the underbody is pale green , the margins are blue-purple , and the small coverts on the wings are emerald blue. The field features are extremely obvious and easy to identify. The iris is brown, the mouth is black, and the feet are lead or blue-gray.
It mainly inhabits montane evergreen broad-leaved forests and secondary forests below 1500 m above sea level, and in some places even rises to an altitude of 2100 m above sea level. Often in pairs or in small groups. It prefers dense forests, but during the non-breeding period, it is often active and foraging in forest edge shrublands, orchards and sparse forests. It feeds mainly on insects, but also eats other invertebrates such as spiders, and sometimes plant foods such as fruits, seeds, and flowers. It is found in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, China (southwestern Yunnan), India, Laos, Thailand, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Vietnam.
The male has a golden orange color on the forehead and the front of the head, and the entire upper body such as the back of the head to the upper covert feathers on the tail is green, and the surface of the wings is the same color as the upper body. The small coverts on the wings are emerald blue, the flight feathers are dark brown, and the outer grass is green. The entire flight feather appearance also appears grass green. The surface of the tail is also grassy green , but darker than the upper body , and the feather shaft is dark brown. The chin, lower cheeks and upper throat are purple, and the frontal base, eye front, and underside to the ear feathers and lower throat are black, and this black has a circle of yellow around the periphery, starting behind the two sides of the eyes, converging on the chest, and the yellow band is wider and wider towards the chest, and the yellow also turns orange-yellow. The rest of the underparts below the thorax are pale green, with lilac wing corners, blue-purple wing margins, and gray-brown underwing coverts. It feeds mainly on insects, but also eats other invertebrates such as spiders, and sometimes plant foods such as fruits, seeds, and flowers.
