Liverpool's three cheap midfield solutions in January

author:George comments on football

Liverpool have been needing to update their midfield for some time now, but there hasn't been any major action during the summer transfer window.

The Reds offered Aureliano Chuamini, but the former Monaco and Bordeaux star joined Real Madrid.

The owner, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), does not spend money as Aboriginal unless absolutely necessary and maintains tight control over financial rights.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp admitted they need to sign a new midfielder, but only if the player is a good fit for his team.

There are reports that Ibrahim Sangaray and Matthews Nunes may transfer, but nothing has progressed. Liverpool signed Arthur on loan for £37.5 million and had the right to buy them before the deadline.

However, just two weeks after Merseyside, Klopp was not impressed with the Brazil international and decided not to sign him permanently.

Naby Keita, Jordan Henderson, Alex Oxrad Chamberlain and Curtis Jones were injured. Thiago Alcantara has just recovered from a month-long injury. Fabinho and James Milner were also vulnerable.

Harvey Elliott and Fabio Carvalho are promising youngsters but need to be used with caution.

Liverpool's midfield is worrying, especially after their performances at the start of the season. The January transfer window offers sporting director Julian Ward another opportunity to solve the problem.

There are three cheap options here that Liverpool can sign to solve their midfield problems.

Yuri Tillermans-Leicester City

Yuri Tillermans almost left Leicester City this summer, but the Belgian midfielder stayed. Arsenal are reportedly interested in him, but they are unable to complete the deal.

The 25-year-old's contract with the club is final and the Foxes could consider selling him in January so as not to lose him in vain in the summer.

Leicester City asked Arsenal for £35m to sell Tillmans.

He will add control and creativity to Liverpool's midfield. Tielemans is also a very durable operator. Since making his debut for Anderlecht, he has played more than 430 games.

Despite these connections, Tillmans has been impressive at Leicester this season, creating four chances in six appearances.

Klopp's team needs midfielders like Tillermans.

Manuel Ugarte – Sport CP

With Joao Palhinha and Matheus Nunes leaving Sport CP in the summer window, former Famalika defensive midfielder Manuel Ugarte has stepped up.

Yujadi had an impressive season with Ruben Amorim's side. The 21-year-old looks like an experienced veteran in the Champions League.

In the win over Tottenham Hotspur, Ugat was a monster in midfield. He won all aerial duels and 70% ground duels. He picked up the ball four times and intercepted it four times.

In the first group D match against Eintracht Frankfurt, Yugat also performed well. He recorded the most touches (95), the most duel wins (17), the most possession wins (14), the most tackle wins (10) and the most foul wins (4). Yujadi also completed the most shots.

Ward knows the Portuguese market very well because he signed Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez and he will see what the Uruguayan can do. Yujadi will add steel and drive to Klopp's midfield.

Although his contract doesn't expire until 2026, Liverpool could sign him in January for a decent price.

Hussein Aoun – Lyon Olympique

Lyon midfielder Husselm Aouar will add cunning and penetration to any team he joins. The midfielder is soft and elusive.

Avar excelled at connecting midfield and attack and could be a worthwhile option for Klopp.

The 24-year-old didn't meet his early bills due to injury and instability, but Klopp could use a very talented midfielder. His estimation of around £12m makes him an attractive option.

Avar has been linked to several clubs this summer, including Nottingham Forest and Benfica. Lester considered letting him replace Tillmans, but Avar remained in France.

Avar's professionalism in training has reportedly led the club to offer him a new contract, but it's unclear if he will sign it.

He could replace the injured Thiago.
