Zheng Yaoliang, a citrus expert at the Changshan County Agricultural Service Center in Quzhou City, Zhejiang Province, is very busy, and the staff of the planting base or the grapefruit farmers will first ask him for help when they encounter technical problems in cultivation.
Changshan is the westernmost mountainous county in Zhejiang Province, and grapefruit is one of the leading traditional agricultural industries in the county, with 100,000 people involved in planting, production and marketing.
Since 1985, Zheng Yaoliang has been engaged in research on citrus grapefruit cultivation technology for 38 years. In 2017, after his retirement, Zheng Yaoliang was rehired by the Changshan County Supply and Marketing Cooperative, responsible for the pest control of grapefruit, the planting of green manure in orchards and the ecological effects of teak orchards, and the quality improvement technology of grapefruit.

"Where I am needed, no matter how bitter and far away I have to go, as long as I go to the scene, there is no problem that cannot be solved." Zheng Yaoliang often said that it is not easy to plant grapefruit, but as long as you grasp the four key points of whole branches, insect control, fertilization, and fruit thinning, the quality of the grapefruit planted will not be bad.
The Changshan County Agricultural Service Center, where Zheng Yaoliang is located, also known as the "Crop Hospital", mainly provides services such as agricultural materials, agricultural technology, and agricultural product exhibition and sales for local rural cooperatives, family farms and other agriculture-related business entities and rural residents. There are 76 people in the online work group of "Crop Hospital", and more than 90% of them are large grapefruit growers.
A few days ago, Changshan grapefruit farmer Pan Tugen posted a group of pictures of grapefruit with rotten spots in the group, and Zheng Yaoliang contacted him at the first time after seeing the news, and made an appointment to the scene of the grapefruit base for "diagnosis".
"This grapefruit is caused by a bug bite." Zheng Yaoliang immediately pointed out the problem. Subsequently, he asked the staff to prepare several flytraps and place rotten apples in them to trap insect flies and carry out green effective prevention and control.

In recent years, Changshan County has taken "two grapefruit and one tea" as a pillar industry with county characteristics with industrial recognition. In order to serve the industry well, Changshan County Supply and Marketing Cooperatives have built experimental bases in local Fangcun, Tonggong and Baishi respectively.
Located in The teak test base in Caoping Village, Baishi Town, covers an area of about 1 acre and has planted and cultivated 34 grapefruit plants. After Zheng Yaoliang took over the base on October 14, 2021, he marked each tree with a serial number to record the cultivation measures and the number of results in detail. At present, these 34 fruit trees have produced 2743 grapefruit, and the output is about 10 times that of 2021.
Whether it is the prevention and control of grapefruit diseases and insect pests, or the experimental cultivation of new varieties, Zheng Yaoliang carefully allocates trace elements in accordance with the standards of green ecology, reduces the amount of chemical fertilizer, and wholeheartedly controls every link.
Zheng Yaoliang has a notepad, which densely records the information of the teak farmer's call and consultation, as well as the technical measures of the usual service. According to statistics, since the beginning of this year, 73-year-old Zheng Yaoliang has carried out information consultation and technical guidance for grapefruit farmers more than 1,000 times.
