In the past two months, the Taiwan authorities have been excited by the sneaking of US heavyweights and the case of heavy arms sales. However, the ensuing "sky-high bill" has made the public opinion on the island dumbfounded.
According to reports, the long-range early warning radar logistics and service case announced by the United States at the beginning of the month cost up to NT$20 billion, and the us side's continuous price increase made the Taiwan authorities unable to stand it, and openly shouted that "it will not be accepted in full according to the order."
According to the Taiwan military's "defense budget," the budget cost of the long-range early warning radar case is NT$16.6 billion, but the amount offered by the US side is 665 million US dollars, which is about NT$20 billion at the current exchange rate of 1:30, which is much higher than the Taiwan military's plan.
Taiwan military officials stressed that the final price should not be 20 billion yuan, because the Taiwan authorities will also take action to negotiate with the United States.
However, in fact, the Taiwan military has little choice in purchasing arms from the United States, and not only has to pay high prices, but also has to accept various constraints. Take the long-range early warning radar deployed on the island and the Patriot III missile as examples. The maintenance of the early warning radar is controlled by the US side, and its high-level maintenance work completely prohibits contact with the Taiwan military. The "Patriot" missile is even more strictly restricted in terms of use to avoid data leakage.
With regard to the US practice of "extorting bamboo" and "always being vigilant," the media on the island once asked the Taiwan authorities: Who exactly bought this weapon for? It is no wonder that the Taiwan authorities, which have always made promises to the United States, finally cannot stand the US side's price increase and do not want to be the wronged leader anymore.
However, the Taiwan authorities have been shouting loudly in private, but they may not have the courage to express different opinions to the United States. Taiwan military officials do not dare to insist on the cost set for the early warning radar in the budget, and only stress that they will not accept the maximum price announced by the US side, which is an extremely ridiculous thing in itself. This shows that the Taiwan authorities are ready to make concessions to the United States in their hearts.
On the one hand, they are dissatisfied with the harvest of the United States, and on the other hand, they have to accept this unfair relationship, which is the real situation of the current Taiwan authorities. No one believes this lie that the United States will "defend Taiwan," because the "help" of the United States has made the people on the island more and more unbearable, and if the United States continues to "help" it, sooner or later the people on the island will be swept up.
In fact, the United States has never taken the Taiwan authorities' ideas to heart. Everything the United States does is aimed at creating as much turmoil as possible and turning the Taiwan authorities into its own tools, so as to maintain its hegemony in the Asia-Pacific region.
First, the United States has single-handedly pushed up tension in the Taiwan Strait and put Asia-Pacific countries in a dangerous position. Imagine how the situation in the Asia-Pacific region could have become what it is today if it were not for the deliberate operation of the United States. The Taiwan Strait issue is China's internal affair and has nothing to do with countries outside the region, but the United States has come from afar and has no choice but to step in.
In order to create greater pressure on the Chinese mainland, the United States has continuously lobbied Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia, and European countries to participate, and the entire Asia-Pacific region has been stirred up in turmoil. However, for the Affairs of the Taiwan Strait, Europe is unable to do so, Southeast Asia has remained neutral, South Korea is reluctant to get involved, and only Japan intends to collude with the United States.
Despite this, the situation in the first half of 2022 is still not as good as expected, so the United States tries to create a bigger storm in the Taiwan Strait region to save the situation. On August 2, U.S. House speaker Pelosi visited Taiwan Island despite opposition from all sides, pushing tensions to the top.
Second, the United States only wants to take advantage of Taiwan and extort bamboo, and there is no "free aid." The Taiwan authorities have been looking forward to the day when the US military can rush to the rescue, but in August, the performance of the US military has proved its true inner thoughts.
At the time of the PLA's exercise around the island, the US aircraft carrier only watched from a distance and had no intention of approaching the Taiwan Strait area at all. After the incident, the US military did not take drastic measures as expected by the outside world. The US Government has adopted the method of constantly encouraging the Taiwan authorities and speeding up arms sales to Taiwan. In the whole process, the United States not only did not pay substantial benefits, but also made a lot of money through arms sales.
Finally, in the taiwan authorities' vision, they have taken the lead in the "seeking independence" activities, and the United States has only provided support from the outside. However, the US government does not want to let the development of the situation get out of its control, and the continuous intervention of the US side has made the voice of the Taiwan authorities ignored.
Since Pelosi's escape from Taiwan, some people within the Taiwan authorities have believed that the opportunity for her visit is not appropriate, but under Pelosi's personal interrogation, the Taiwan authorities have had to abandon their own opinions. Since then, US congressmen and governors have organized delegations to visit and plan arms sales, and they have rarely asked taiwan's opinions, and this kind of "care" has made the Taiwan authorities increasingly overwhelmed.
Gradually, the United States has come to the forefront and replaced the Taiwan authorities in the operation. The Taiwan authorities are now complaining about the early warning radar arms sale case, also because they realize that they are deeply mired in a quagmire and cannot retreat.
However, it is too late for the Taiwan authorities to "complain" now, and this is all the result of their own blame, and it is impossible for the US side to listen to their opinions. In fact, on the cross-strait issue, there is simply no room for "Taiwan independence elements" to blindly manipulate them. This is because the strength of the Taiwan military alone is simply not enough to support the separatist ambitions of the "Taiwan independence" elements. Anyone with a modicum of basic common sense can see that cross-strait reunification is the trend of the times, and stubborn resistance is nothing more than a cocoon of self-restraint.
