The brown-winged crow, a medium-sized bird of the family Ravenidae and the genus, can grow to 40–52 cm, with a black and thick beak, and is black throughout except for the two wings, shoulders and the inside of the shoulders.
It is distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi, Zhejiang, Fujian, Yunnan, southern Guizhou and Hainan Island in China, and often inhabits forest edge shrubs, savanna slopes, river valley shrubs, grasses and reeds in low hills and plains below 1000m, mainly feeding on animal foods, and sometimes eating some plant foods such as weed seeds and fruits.
At present, the bird has been listed in the 2012 Red List of Endangered Species of the International Union for Conservation of Nature, and is listed as a Grade II protected animal in the List of Wild Animals under National Key Protection issued by the former Ministry of Forestry and the Ministry of Agriculture of China in 1989.
