With the theme of "Art Tour", the Shanghai Oriental Art Center's 2022/23 autumn and winter performance season has officially set sail, and 58 stations and 94 performances will be staged from September this year to February next year.

In the field of symphony, the musicians and the up-and-coming music scene will be staged alternately on the stage of Dongyi.
On September 9, Tan Dun will conduct the Changsha Symphony Orchestra to premiere the Dunhuang Ancient Instrument Quintet "Dunhuang Five Music Gods" in Shanghai, which will open the autumn and winter performance season. In the evening, Tan Dun's micro-film symphonic poem "Nüshu", which premiered in Dongyi China nine years ago, will also revisit the old place.
"Dunhuang Five Happy Gods" is based on five historical figures in the "Romance of the Three Kingdoms", Liu Wenwen, Zhu Yunqi, Yang Bowen, Han Yan, Zhang Meng and other five soloists will play the ancient musical instruments in their hands one by one - the yanyi, xiqin, shakuhachi, pipa, sheng, and establish the inheritance of temperament and spiritual echoes between the annihilated historical heroes and the dunhuang instruments that are on the verge of being lost.
Like Tan Dun, "post-90s" Gong Tianpeng is also trying to "amphibious development". His most familiar identity is that of a composer, and now he has transformed himself into a conductor to conduct the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra, performing his tenth symphony, Peking Opera Fantasy.
This work is based on the Peking Opera classics "Noble Concubine Drunk", "Overlord Farewell", "Cao Cao and Yang Xiu", "Xiao He Yuexia Chasing Han Xin" as materials, using symphony, the international language, to "translate" the spirit, emotion, thought and temperament of Peking Opera to the world.
In addition, Xu Zhong, Zhang Liang, Jin Chengzhi, Gao Jian and other conductors will successively lead the Shanghai Opera House Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai Rainbow Chamber Choir, Suzhou Symphony Orchestra and other musical groups on stage.
Dongyi will also focus on the leading figures in the classical music scene, such as pianist Chen Sa and Maxim, violinists Lu Siqing and Huang Mengla, cellist Chen Weiping and Li Chuiyi, soprano Huang Ying, erhu player Jiang Jianhua, flute player Zhang Weiliang, etc., all of which will be unveiled.
Insisting on searching for roots and collecting style, and being a walker of Chinese style music, singer Gong Linna joined hands with the Gong Gong New Art Orchestra to premiere a number of newly created folk song works and poems in the magnificent song "Book of Poetry", singing the new trend of Chinese music.

In terms of drama, it brings together the young minds of cutting-edge directors, and there are also classics of big-name directors.
Ding Yiteng, a post-90s "drama ghost", will make a strong appearance with two works: "I Am Not Pan Jinlian" starring Zhang Xinyi, which tells the story of "the first half of the life of Li Xuelian, who is not recognized", and will bring the audience "a tragedy from beginning to end"; "I Am the Moon," starring Qu Chuxiao, creates a space playground with six interrelated and independent stories interwoven into a prose poem. It is worth mentioning that both works are the stage plays debuts of Zhang Xinyi and Qu Chuxiao.
At the same time, Lai Shengchuan's classic cross-talk drama "Millennium Night, We Say Cross-Talk" will debut on the stage of Dongyi. In the 1980s, Lai Shengchuan led a performance workshop to produce "That Night, We Say Crosstalk", which activated a traditional song art that was gradually dying out in Taiwan, and the "We Say Crosstalk" series of works was not only funny, but also tried to make the audience laugh meaningfully, deeply and thoughtfully.
Two theatrical works with dark suspense themes will also shine into reality under the reflection of world literature: the classic drama "Pillow Man" by Martin McDonner, screenwriter of the Oscar-winning film "Three Billboards", and the drama "The Taoist Of the Imaginary Image", based on Keigo Higashino's novel, will be scheduled to appear.
Due to the postponement of the epidemic, the three works starring Liu Xiaoqing and directed by Tian Qinxin and Lou Naiming respectively, "Fenghua Dynasty" and "Wu Zetian", as well as the new version of the Peking Opera "Tang Guifei" led by Shi Yihong, will also be re-scheduled and returned.

Knocking on the dance chapter is the dancer Wang Yabin. On September 15, Wang Yabin's dance drama "Growth" with Belgian choreographer Siddi Rabbi Chekoo will resume the national tour of Dongyi and bring a new 2.0 version - the all-Chinese dancer version.
In addition, the Gansu Song and Dance Theater's dance drama "Silk Road Flower Rain", the Central Ballet's dance drama "Swan Lake" and "Red Women's Army", the Shanghai Ballet's dance "Giselle", and the Guangzhou Ballet's dance "Banner" will all be unveiled one after another.
"The Right Way in the World is Vicissitudes"
In addition to the introduction of plays, in recent years, Dongyi is also exploring a new path - integrating the domestic artistic creation force, with the concept of "Dongyi Manufacturing" and "Oriental Quality Manufacturing" as the concept, launching original self-made works.
The Chinese original musical "Streamer Age", jointly produced by Dongyi and Beijing Poly Theater, will premiere in November. Composed by musician Li Quan and serving as the music director, the play is the first youth dream musical in China to reveal the story behind the selection of showbiz artists, and will use the song and dance experience of drama in the play and show in the show to lead the audience into the selection scene.
In addition, Dongyi's special drama "The Right Way in the World is Vicissitudes" specially produced to commemorate the centenary of the founding of the Party will return in early 2023. Adapted from the TV series of the same name, the drama was exclusively authorized by the original author Jiang Qitao, and premiered in Shanghai in 2021, with 34 performances in 18 cities.
