The Hong Kong Jockey Club 2022/2023 will officially open on 11 September (Sunday) at Sha Tin Racecourse. The Hong Kong Jockey Club held a worship ceremony at Sha Tin Racecourse today, and chief executive, Mr Ying Ka Pak, together with a group of club executives, led staff from various departments to pray for blessings and wished the new season a smooth future.
According to the published schedule of the 2022/2023 season (subject to government approval), the new season, like the previous one, has a total of 88 horse racing days, including 46 day races and 42 night races.

On 20 April this year, the Club announced an increase in prize money for the New Malaysia Season, which will increase to a record 1.62 billion Hong Kong dollars in the coming season, breaking the single-season record by 11.5% (about HK$167.2 million), and will bring a series of adjustments, including a substantial increase in prize money for various route events and the introduction of a new special prize system. Among them, the total prize money of the Hong Kong International Competition rose to HK$110 million.
Last year's total bets in the Hong Kong race season were about HK$140.4 billion, the first time in history that they exceeded HK$140 billion, up 3% from the 2010/2021 season and the ninth consecutive year that Hong Kong's total season bets exceeded the 100 billion mark.
The new horse racing season will be a new starting point, and I believe that with the efforts of the Jockey Club and all parties, Hong Kong horse racing will continue to bloom more brilliantly on the map of world horse racing!
