What kind of flower is the Fentorian flower?
According to volume 15 of the Dai-Nikkei Shu:
The Fentorian flower, its color is as white as silver, dazzling, large and fragrant.
It usually grows in the Ajanta Pond and is a rare thing in the world.
Its stem is about a foot long and resembles a water lily, but much larger and more fragrant.
Because the fintorian flower is often rooted in the mud but cannot be stained by the mud, it is often used in Buddhist scriptures to compare the characteristics of Buddha-nature in defilements without being defiled by defilements.
It is worth mentioning that in the "Lotus Journey" written by Master Jizang, it is said:
Fentoli flowers, at three different times of the flowering period, will have different names.
When the flowers have not yet bloomed, it is called Kumolo;
When the flower is about to bloom and fall, it is called Gamora;
Only when the flower is in full bloom is it called a fintolite flower.
It can be seen that the Fentorian flower is a rather special flower.
And the fendoli flower is sometimes used in buddhist scriptures as a metaphor for a type of person, which kind of person is it?
In the Buddhist Sutra on the Immeasurable Life of the Buddha, it is said: "If one recites the Buddha, he should know that this person is the Fendra flower among the people, and the Guanyin Bodhisattva and the Dashizhi Bodhisattva are their victorious friends, and they should sit in the dojo and give birth to the Buddhas." ”
The sutras compare the person who recites the Buddha to a rare fendalian flower.
The Master of Good Guidance once said in his commentary: "The Fentory Flower among men" refers to the good people among people, the wonderful people, the superior people, the rare people, and the most victorious people.
The Master of Good Guidance believes that those who can generate pure faith in the Pure Land Dharma and thus refine their recitation of the Buddha have far surpassed the beings of the Three Realms and the Six Paths, and they are no longer ordinary people who are addicted to reincarnation. In the future, they will certainly be as solemn as the white fragrance and the rare fendalian flowers, and they will achieve the Buddha's path.
