At the beginning of 2022, the Department of Energy Conservation and Comprehensive Utilization of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced the list of energy efficiency "frontrunner" enterprises in key energy-using industries, and 9 units in the cement industry were listed. How does Huaxin Cement achieve "leading"? Entering the Huaxin Changshankou Environmental Protection Factory, we explored some of the answers. Here, domestic garbage from Wuhan Jiangxia District, Hongshan District, Wuchang District, East Lake High-tech Zone and other areas began a "circular journey". Crushing, drying, sorting... After ecological pretreatment, these household wastes were successfully converted into derivative fuels to replace coal, and then closed and transported to the cement plant of Huaxin Cement Company for collaborative disposal of cement kilns. Domestic garbage becomes a fuel to replace coal, and the comprehensive utilization of harmlessness and resources is realized. Since its commissioning, the factory has treated about 1/5 of Wuhan's domestic garbage every day, and as of September this year, it has accumulated more than 1.9 million tons of harmless treatment, which has greatly alleviated the garbage siege.
The "circular journey" of domestic waste has significant environmental and social effects. The pretreated garbage-derived fuel of 1 ton of domestic waste contains a calorific value of equivalent 200 kg of standard coal, exerts 80% energy utilization efficiency in cement kilns, and replaces coal to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 0.5 tons. Because of this, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the People's Bank of China, the Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission, and the Securities Regulatory Commission jointly issued guidance opinions, emphasizing the acceleration of the coordinated disposal of domestic waste in cement kilns and improving the level of collaborative disposal of urban waste in industrial kilns.
According to preliminary statistics, Huaxin Cement's domestic waste disposal projects distributed throughout the country have accumulated 12 million tons of municipal waste disposal by the end of 2021, saving about 2.4 million tons of standard coal, and reducing coal-fired carbon dioxide emissions by 12 million tons, making positive contributions to achieving carbon peaking and carbon neutrality.
On December 28 last year, the "Cement Kiln Flue Gas Carbon Dioxide Carbon Absorption Brick Automated Production Line" jointly developed by Huaxin Cement and Hunan University was put into operation in Huaxin Wuxue Industrial Park. This is the world's first production line using cement kiln tail flue gas to produce concrete products, and it is also the first industrialization progress achieved by Huaxin Cement to focus on the major needs of the country and the industry, carry out the scientific and technological research of "unveiling the leader", solve the problems of resource consumption, energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions, and develop carbon neutral technology in the cement industry. Taking the annual output of 100 million steamed brick production line as an example, the annual use of 26,000 tons of carbon dioxide, the national promotion of carbon reduction will reach 52 million tons per year.
