Dr. Ting Soso, Secretary-General of the Myanmar Red Cross Society, said that we will make emergency preparations in advance every year for natural disasters, including floods, and the Red Cross has 30 warehouses in 17 provinces. Among them, 27 warehouses will store supplementary emergency and food supplies every year, which can be used by 21,000 disaster victims.
Dr Sosso went on to say that every year since 2018, we have taken emergency measures before the rainy season. In the event of a natural disaster, residents can seek help from the Local Red Cross Society, and if necessary, the local Red Cross chapters will also provide psychological counseling, health knowledge popularization, post-disaster clean-up and other services for the victims, during which we will also distribute food supplies and cash subsidies to the victims to find missing families.
Recently, floods have occurred in many parts of Myanmar, and the Department of Meteorology and Hydrological Management is updating meteorological monitoring in real time to deal with natural disasters that may occur with you. During the rainy season, due to the rise in the water level of the Irrawaddy River and the Chintun River, many parts of the country will be flooded due to heavy rain.
Floods occur frequently during the rainy season, and people along the river and in low-lying areas must pay attention to changes in water levels and do not forcibly cross the river when the water flow is very urgent.
