The feelings of rabbit death, fox sorrow, and material injury immediately enveloped my inner world. Life is short, and the year is really a problem that people who are still alive should think about. We all know that people can't live long, but they should live at least one Chinese average lifespan. Unfortunately, Mingzhi has not crossed this average number, and he has not yet crossed the threshold of 70 years old. Prematurely compromised with the fate he had fought. If God had given him some more time, he could still see his dark and smiling face, his profound and penetrating articles, and his eloquent and heartfelt speeches. There would have been no ifs in the world. The departure of the Slovaks has made this already imperfect world more lonely and lonely.
Mingzhi was born in the original Village of Shenjia'e in Wangjiadun Township. Now that the whole township of Wangjiadun has been merged into Wujiazhuang Town, we have become a "outside" wanderer in the town. I worked in the county until I retired. Ming Zhi flew farther and reached Yulin, which still needed a 2-hour drive. His relationship with my fellow countrymen is not far away.
South of the county seat of Fugu, it is traditionally called Nanxiang. The terrain is more canyon and steep slopes, and life is more difficult. In particular, the people of our generation who have grown up eating the grain of the production team have a deep feeling and have been hungry since childhood. Although I have not been to Shen Jia'e, I know that it is not far south of Wang Jiadun. Presumably, Mingzhi Elementary School was studying in Wangjiadun.
The Cultural Revolution movement of several years has made the whole society a little more sober. The slogan of building the mainland into a modern country in this century has been deeply rooted in the hearts of the people. Ming Zhi completed junior high school in 1972. After participating in the first selective middle school examination after the "resurgence", he was admitted to the only high school class of the first high school newly recruited by the county office at that time. The students in this class were recruited from five townships (then called communes) in the southern part of Fugu, and the acceptance rate was very low. There is no doubt that the students who were admitted to the examination were some of the best students in junior high school at that time who loved to read.
I was one grade lower than Mingzhi and didn't catch the exam. Going to high school became a recommendation selection system, and I was mistakenly selected by the school to go to high school, fulfilling my dream of going to high school. In 1973, on a cold March day, I walked 50 miles with my luggage on my back to Shimagawa Junior High School, where I had been a high school student for a year in The Moraine Commune. At that time, Shimagawa Middle School was first established, and there were 2 high school classes plus the original 2 junior high school classes, which were about 200 students. Most of the junior high school students are running school and day school, and there are hundreds of people who eat on the stove. It didn't take a few days of effort, and everyone was mixed up.
Since it is a prefectural middle school, the prefectural government also attaches great importance to it. Chen Huaizhi and Liu Erming, two well-known school leaders in the educational circles of Fugu County, were dispatched from the county to form the Revolutionary Committee and the Party Branch of Shimachuan Middle School. Han Fangcai, Qin Zhenyang, Qu Caixia, Shang Zhongyong, Cui Kaide, Li Zhicheng, Gao Aisheng, Gao Wenzhong, Zhao Guohua and other famous teachers also attended the school. Everyone is getting ready to do a big job.
The head teacher of Mingzhi's class was Han Fangcai (later the principal of Fugu Middle School and the director of education). Their class style is very good. Every afternoon, I can see Ming Zhi playing basketball with his classmates. He was of medium build and unusually active. Later, I heard that Shen Mingzhi's mathematical and physical chemistry was very good, and he was a high-achieving student from Wangjiadun School.
All the good dreams were shattered in the few days of that school year. The radio suddenly came huang Shuai's heroic deeds against the trend, and Zhang Tiesheng's zero score in physics in the college entrance examination was moved out again. The teachers whispered, and the students' big posters appeared on campus again. The school is also afraid of wearing the hat of the "white specialist" road, does not dare to grasp the quality of teaching, and takes the road of "opening the door to run a school". We high school students work 2.5 days a week, and our class has two full days on Wednesdays and Saturdays, plus a half-day labor class. Ming Zhi's senior second class is basically the same as our senior class. The extracurricular activities in our two high school classes are very popular. In addition to labor classes, literature and art classes and physical education classes are particularly active. Students in both classes interact more frequently. Our two classes often cooperate with the cultivation of land, especially the diversion of water to Lhasa, to create a large playground and a vegetable garden of more than 20 acres for the school. Two high school classes often engage in various types of competitions. Mingzhi's class basketball plays well and is often the champion. There are no girls in their class, they are born insufficient, and we habitually jokingly call them single stick classes.
Later, when the school was opened, it became a practice of going out. When Mingzhi's second class was about to graduate, they walked to the Quyu Brigade in Hequ County, Shanxi Province, 200 miles away, to visit, also to strengthen the students' confidence in building their hometown. After they graduated, the next year we did the same. Seeing that the Quyu Brigade's results in learning Dazhai were so remarkable, everyone was full of confidence.
After two years of high school study, Ming Zhi returned to his hometown of Shenjia'an Village. Our 73rd high school class persisted for another year, ushering in the next two high school classes. The high school class of Ishimagawa Junior High School continued until 1984. The remaining students were merged into fugu middle school in the county seat, and the school completed its historical mission.
After graduating from high school in the winter of 1974, MingZhi became a young intellectual who returned to his hometown. Then came the news that he had gone to Wangjiadun Commune to become a full-time cadre, a member of the propaganda team. This is a profession that many people envy. There is no need to participate in the labor of the production team, and there is a monthly commune salary. At that time, although the monthly salary only earned more than 30 yuan, it was an excellent young man who was one of the best in a hundred, and it was no exaggeration to use the attention of the people. Jia Zhanshi and I and other students chose to work as migrant workers at the Tianqiao Power Station. The gap with Ming Zhi is not a star and a half. Fortunately, after a year of labor, I became a private teacher, which is also a professional counterpart and useful for learning.
In the early winter of 1977, the news of the national resumption of the college entrance examination suddenly came on the radio, which was a thunderclap on the ground, and almost startled people to drop their jaws. For more than 10 years, I didn't mention the university entrance examination. The terms scientist, professor, engineer seem to be drifting away from us. The county has accumulated thousands of high school graduates and the "old third class", and the little knowledge we learned during the Cultural Revolution is stretched, how can we cope with the college entrance examination? Everyone was dazed and unwilling to let the state give such a good opportunity. After reviewing for more than a month, I hurried into the examination room set up by Fugu Middle School. After the exam, they were all in a state of anxiety, waiting for the results and waiting for the list. The red paper and black characters were finally posted in the most conspicuous place in the county, Ming zhi was on the list, the county pre-selected 50, he was the only one in Wangjiadun Commune on the list, and the score was not announced at that time. Unfortunately, due to some objective reasons, he did not step into the door of the university.
Soon, Because of his excellent work at the grassroots level, Ming Zhi was transferred to the compound of the county party committee and government. This is the center of the county's nearly 200,000 people, and it is the dream place for many young college students. He was later praised by his colleagues and leaders as always, and his position was constantly promoted, mainly because of his outstanding penmanship, especially his good character. During this time I was teaching in the countryside and had less contact with him.
In 1984, Fugu County established the "University of Electricity and Technology Teaching and Counseling Station" to provide opportunities for aspiring young people without academic qualifications to study and further study. In that year, Ming Zhi was admitted to the first special training class for party and government cadres of Fugu University. Most of the more than 20 students in the class are leading cadres, who have already established families and are paid to school.
In 1985, I also entered the language and literature class of Electric Han, and I also went to school with a salary. The school borrowed the cave house of the party school of the county party committee at that time, and spent another year with Ming Zhi. However, everyone is grateful for the preferential treatment given to us by the government and learns to be extra diligent. Books were gnawed on on Sundays. Not in a class, not much interaction.
After Mingzhi graduated, he became the main pen pole of the county party committee compound, he was low-key and humble, hard-working and hard-working, and soon he was promoted to deputy secretary of the Fugu County Party Committee, which is only second only to the secretary and county governor.
At this time, there were also some negative news about Ming Zhi, saying that his official had become bigger, that people had changed, and that he could not recognize his fellow countrymen. This is completely nonsense by people with ulterior motives. Ming Zhi is an official in the local area, he has always been honest and honest, how can he let go of the work for his fellow villagers? Some compatriots came to his door, and he was warmly received. Ask him to do things, as long as they are reasonable and legal, he will do his best to fulfill them. 20,000 to 30,000 people from several townships in Nanxiang returned to the county seat, and almost all of them knew Shen Mingzhi. If the person who comes does not refuse, he will not be able to take care of the fen-body technique, not to mention that the things to be done must also violate the law or even violate the law. As a deputy secretary of the county party committee, he can't always let himself take the lead into the gray area, and even violate the legal system of the party and the government, right? Ming Zhi is full of righteousness and has a good reputation. I have long heard that he has done things for his fellow villagers, and he has returned the tobacco and alcohol that people have thanked him for.
At the beginning of the new century, Ming Zhi was transferred to the Yulin Municipal Party Committee as deputy secretary-general, he did not give up the bank, the main task is to write large-scale and important report materials for the municipal party committee and the municipal government, and it is deeply appreciated by leading colleagues. After retirement, he was still rehired by the municipal government and returned to his old business. And engaged in literary creation, quite accomplished. The "Fugu Literature and Art" that I edited used several of his prose travelogues, and was impressed by his beautiful words and profound philosophies. He is also often invited to give lectures and counseling by various municipal organs and subordinate counties. Many authors wanted to publish monographs, poems, and essays, and they also asked him to write prefaces and inscriptions, and he never refused. There is no doubt that Ming Zhi's low age has a lot to do with his excessive burden.
In September 2020, the Fugu County Writers Association held a grand inaugural meeting, and Ming Zhi was hired as the honorary chairman of the Writers Association with his talents, achievements, and character. Mingzhi sat on the rostrum, and after the meeting, he took a group photo with everyone and talked about wine together. This is the last time I will see you. No one could have imagined that in less than two years, the news that Ming Zhi had gone to Beijing to see a doctor came. Your colleagues and friends have suppressed their deep uneasiness and worry in their hearts, silently wishing you a speedy recovery, where did you expect that God would be so urgent to take his life?!
In 2022, the party's birthday, Ming Zhi left forever the land he had loved and struggled for all his life, leaving your relatives, friends, colleagues, and many of your fans. Mingzhi, I know that you have not had a good rest in your life, you are asleep, and you are having a beautiful dream that has not been completed before you died.
