Wizards used several forms of San Pedro cacti, the most common being those with seven edges of green columns. Tetragonal is rare but is thought to have a special therapeutic effect. Alpine species are said to be the most effective, which may be the result of climatic and soil factors (Sharon, 1972 120).
A traditional drink called Simora "cimora" that includes the San Pedro cactus and various other plants, neoraimondia arequipensis, two woody mandala plants (Brugmansia) and solanaceae plants, Iresine spp, Amaranthaceae, Long star flowers (Campanulaceae of the Family Platycodonidae) and Centipede (Euphorbiaceae) (Cardinal corals of the Family Euphorbiaceae). According to Schultes and Hofmann (1979 156), most of these plants have "biodynamic" properties. However, Davis (1983 370) argues that "cimora appears to be an ordinary drink that can apply the genes of many plants, especially mandalas, and perhaps ... "The question of Simora still needs clarification, and it is clear that Seamora is not a simple mixture of the San Pedro cactus and several other plants.
Two other cacti, while not hallucinogenic, had a profound effect on many Indigenous North Americans: saguaro, Carnegiea gigantea, and Opuntia ficus-indica. Other members of the Cactaceae family are studied as well as human use. Previously, some detailed studies were conducted on them.
