The scholarship is not subject to any contracting conditions and will assist the scholarship recipient in meeting the educational expenses for at least three years. Students can use the amount to cover tuition fees, teaching materials, expenses for participating in overseas exchange activities, or other activities. Scholarships are open for application next year, and students in the second year and above can apply through their respective institutions.

Chow Kin Ming, Director of Curriculum at Temasek Polytechnic, said students were already able to intern abroad, so the scholarship came at the right time.

"It's not enough to rely on universities to create talent in the hospitality and catering industry, we need the support of businesses, and Sands' scholarships are the first shot, confirming the recovery trend in the tourism industry, affirming the choices of current students, and encouraging young people to join this fluid but exciting industry."

He also said it was expected that 19 Temasek Polytechnic students would benefit from this, with each expected to receive around S$10,000 in funding.
