What if it is difficult for modern dance audiences to understand? "What is needed most is sensitivity."
In the coming September, Dongyi will bring two high-quality modern dance masterpieces to the theater stage.
On September 6, young choreographer Li Chao's time-space concept dance work "Kagontuya" was led by Li Yu, Hao Ruoqi, Hu Jie and other star dancers of "Dance Storm", using their bodies to explore the meaning of life and time.
On September 15th, the dance drama "Growth", which is cooperated by dancer Wang Yabin and the famous Belgian choreographer Siddi Rabi Chekoo, will also resume its national tour here.
Led by Li Yu, Hao Ruoqi, and Hu Jie, they perceive the meaning of time in Kagantuya
On September 6th, young choreographer Li Chao's time-space concept dance work "Kagontuya" will be unveiled at the Shanghai Oriental Art Center. From dance, composition, costumes to lighting design, this work brings together domestic new generation art creators - "Dance Storm" star dancers Li Yu, Hao Ruoqi, Hu Jie, etc., "The Hidden Corner" soundtrack creator Ding Ke, and the designer Wang Yang who created the stage for the first-line singer concert.
"Kagantua" is the name of the black hole in the movie Interstellar. Near the black hole, time is distorted due to a huge gravitational pull. "You can ignore the existence of time but there is no escape." This is also the original intention of choreographer Li Chao to create "Kagantuya".
The whole work revolves around the theme of "time", what is time? How do we perceive time? The plot of the work uses the combination of color and emotion, and uses the limbs and senses to make a figurative expression of time between black and white.
"Every dance movement is concrete, but the emotions conveyed by the movements are abstract, and the director uses the form of dance to make the vocabulary of the dance express the thinking about time." Li Yu introduced, for example, in the performance, the dancers use the rhythm of clapping hands to express the imperceptible time, use formations to interpret the rotation of the hands, show the orderly passage of time, and use exaggerated abstract limbs to convey the irregularity and mystery of space.
In the process of choreography, choreographer Li Chao also asked dancers to think about death by writing suicide notes, and to explore the concept of time by combining their own life experiences.
For Hu Jie, "less entanglement, more relief, good love and companionship of the people around you." "If you come to the last stage of life, is there anything that must be done?" After re-examining time, what are the interpretations and answers that are exclusive to you?
Wang Yabin resumed the national tour with "Growth"
"Growth" is the fifth season of the "Abbyn and Her Friends" series, and in 2013, dancer Wang Yabin and the famous Belgian choreographer Siddi Rabbi Chekheo created a dance drama interpretation of growth, which is also the first time that Siddi Rabi has cooperated with Chinese dancers.
The dance drama revolves around the proposition of "where we came from and where we are going," with Shedi Rabbi naming Growth "Genesis," which means "Genesis" in the English translation, and in addition to explaining the subject matter, it itself heralds some kind of destruction. "Everyone is 'growing' and we encounter all sorts of unpredictable factors that make you change and eventually reach a different level."
Hildi Rabi has no resistance to oriental elements, which makes "Growth" have a very international perspective in the early stages of creation, and different cultural backgrounds of China and the West integrate, symbiosis and develop in the process of dance creation. With the perception and intuition of multicultural and multinational dance, the whole dance drama explores the sympathetic theme of human body and soul, and rejuvenates people's pursuit and yearning for beauty.
Wang Yabin said, "We have traveled to many countries and performed nearly 60 performances, from costume design to set, music, lighting design, artists from more than 10 countries participated in this work. ""Growth" also had three different choices when it was first conceived, namely more than ten minutes of small works, 40 minutes, and 90 minutes of versions, and finally through many run-ins and discussions between the two sides, it was decided to put the full dance drama version on the stage.
This year, this work that gathers the essence of Chinese and Western cultures has been rearranged, and as for "Growth" with such rich concepts and meanings, what should the audience not understand? Wang Yabin believes that the most important point is the sensitivity, "the charm of dance is not limited by age, some audiences are only 14 years old, you can also capture the beauty of dance in a very short period of time, feel the emotions conveyed by body language." ”
Nine years after the departure, the dance drama will resume the national tour on September 15, led by Wang Yabin, together with niu Dongyan, Liu Mingxin, Wei Xuan, Liu Jiazheng, Liu Lang and other outstanding dancers to interpret the beauty of "growth" with their bodies.
In this regard, Wang Yabin is also full of expectations, "In view of the normalization of epidemic prevention and control, we have made a new version 2.0 this time - the all-Chinese dancer version." I hope that everyone can never forget the feeling of lingering sounds after walking out of the theater. ”
