On August 24, a number of Thai media reported that the Thai Constitutional Court passed a petition of opposition lawmakers by a 5:4 vote, issuing a judgment on praying for the expiration of Prayut's eight-year term and suspending Prayuth as prime minister.
It is also understood that Thai Deputy Prime Minister Bayi may temporarily assume the post of prime minister until the court decides whether Prayut has met the 8-year term limit stipulated in the constitution according to the deliberation procedure, which is expected to be completed within 9 months.
