Core tips

"The lifeblood of man is in the field, the lifeblood of the field is in the water, the lifeblood of the water is in the mountains, the lifeblood of the mountains is in the soil, and the lifeblood of the soil is in the forests and grasses, and this community of life is the material foundation for the survival and development of mankind." "It is very necessary to carry out unified protection and unified restoration of landscapes, forests, fields, lakes and grasses."

Since the Eighteenth National Congress of the Communist Party of China, General Secretary Xi Jinping has put forward the thesis that "Shanshui Lintian Lake Grass is a Community of Life" from the overall perspective of ecological civilization construction, emphasizing "overall planning of the governance of the Landscape, Forest, Field, Lake and Grass System" and "carrying out ecological civilization construction in an all-round, all-regional and whole-process manner".

In 2017, the Ecological Protection and Restoration Project of Shanshui Lintian Lake Grass in the Minjiang River Basin was shortlisted for the second batch of pilot projects in the country, involving 29 counties (cities and districts) in 5 prefectures and cities of Sanming, Nanping, Fuzhou, Longyan and Ningde. The data shows that the satisfaction rate of the 368 sub-projects of the pilot project has reached more than 97%, and the national "landscape project" not only makes the ecological environment more beautiful, but also brings a full sense of happiness to the masses.

A beautiful home that is comprehensively managed

In August, the temperature continued to reach a new high, but Wang Lideng, a villager in Taozhou Village, Fengpu Township, Gutian County, Ningde, was very comfortable in his heart. Walking into his newly renovated 4-story building, through the floor-to-ceiling windows, the eyes are full of Cuiping Lake view, which makes people feel cool.

"I was the most remote place in the village, once known as Fengpu 'Siberia', which used to take nearly an hour to get to the county seat, now it only takes more than 10 minutes." Wang Lideng told reporters, "In the past two years, the shores of Cuiping Lake have become more and more beautiful, the landscape road has been repaired to the edge of the village, the villagers have begun to repair the houses, and many tourists have come to camp and picnic." With the support of the children, Wang Lideng spent more than 200,000 yuan to decorate his own small building, not only living in a lake-view room, but also leaving two floors as a homestay.

Everything changes, starting with the "getting clean" in the village. "In the past, sewage flowed casually, garbage was thrown away, livestock were stocked, and the environment was really poor." Wang Lideng said that in recent years, there have been centralized garbage collection points in the village, sewage pipes have been repaired, roads have been repaired to the edge of the village, and flowers and grasses on the side of the road are luxuriant, and egrets are soaring.

"The improvement of the landscape around Cuiping Lake stems from the foundation laid by ecological protection and restoration." Xie Chenning, deputy director of the Gutian County Finance Bureau, introduced that since 2018, the pilot project of ecological protection and restoration of landscape and water lintian lake grass in the Minjiang River Basin of Gutian County has been officially implemented, including comprehensive water environment management and ecological restoration, biodiversity conservation, soil erosion control, and improvement of the ecological function of farmland, especially a series of "Cuiping Lake boutique projects" such as "sealing mountains and cultivating forests" around the state-owned forest farm lake area, returning fruits to forests and village greening, water and soil conservation and ecological transformation projects around the lake orchards, so that the biodiversity in the lake, The ecological function of water bodies has been greatly improved.

Nowadays, with the help of the ecology of Cuiping Lake and the surrounding beautiful countryside and characteristic industries, Gutian is building a livable rural tourism product system that integrates the characteristic experience of edible mushrooms, the display of folk customs, red research, agricultural entertainment, and health and wellness.

A good ecology paves the way to prosperity

In the middle of summer, the ecological rafting project in Changkou Village, Gaotang Town, Jiangle County, Sanming City, is even more popular.

The crystal clear Golden Creek runs along the river, surrounded by green mountains, the pink wall of Dewa, and the park-like village, tourists from inside and outside the province experience the comfort brought by good ecology.

On the other side of the village, the fruit trees in the navel orange orchard have been hanging fruit. "The natural conditions in Changkou Village are very suitable for growing navel oranges, and this year's output is expected to reach 500 tons." Xu Lianghui, head of Changkou Sharing Ecological Agriculture Co., Ltd., said that navel oranges were only listed in November, and now someone has come to order.

"This year, ecological agriculture alone can increase the collective income of the village by more than 400,000 yuan." Zhang Linshun, deputy mayor of Gaotang Town, told reporters that during this year's National Day, the "Two Mountains Academy" will also be opened, with an average of 280 people per day, and the research and learning industry will be more prosperous.

Zhang Linshun said that at present, Changkou Village has completed the second carbon sink assessment and calculation. In 2021, Changkou Village received the country's first forestry carbon ticket, involving 3197 mu of ecological public welfare forest in the village, and the village earned more than 140,000 yuan by selling carbon tickets alone.

In Changkou Village, ecological benefits are constantly being transformed into economic benefits, forming a rural industrial pattern supported by the three major plates of "research and education", "characteristic agriculture" and "forestry carbon sink", and realizing the organic combination of ecological restoration and industrial development.

Since July 2019, the changkou lake ecological protection and restoration project has been implemented around Changkou Village, with a total investment of 70 million yuan, coordinating the elements of mountains, water, forests, fields, lakes and villages, and carrying out special governance actions.

"We have cooperated with Tongji University, China Academy of Art and other universities to prepare an implementation plan for the ecological protection and restoration of Changshang Lake." Zhang Linshun said that the treatment of soil erosion and the degradation of agricultural ecological functions, the construction of water landscapes and water culture, and rural revitalization and mechanism innovation will be organically combined.

After the global ecological governance, the high-quality ecological environment and high-quality farmland have attracted projects such as modern agriculture. In cooperation with the Provincial Tourism Group to develop forest health and leisure tourism, projects such as "Two Mountains School" and kayak training base have been landed, and the villagers of Changkou Village have achieved employment and prosperity at the doorstep of their homes.

In 2021, Changkou Village achieved a village collective economic income of 1.45 million yuan, a per capita net income of 29,000 yuan for villagers, and led the six joint village collectives to achieve an average income of more than 400,000 yuan. The Pilot Project of Lexian County was promoted nationwide as a national high-quality demonstration project, and was praised in the Seventh Inspection of the State Council.

A paradise of birds living in harmony

On the 17th, at the Ecological Monitoring Wisdom Center of the Minjiangkou Wetland, scientific researchers were pleasantly surprised to find the first batch of transit birds this year. Along with transit birds, there are also terns such as the great crested tern and the Chinese crested tern, as well as the summer migratory birds such as the ring-necked plover and the black-bellied sandpiper.

According to the newly released "List of Wild Animals under National Key Protection", there are 65 species of birds under national key protection in the Minjiang River Estuary Wetland Reserve, including rare and endangered bird species such as chinese crested terns and spoon-billed sandpipers, and a variety of waterbirds such as black-faced spoonbills, three-toed sandpipers, and pintail ducks exceed the population standard by 1%, reaching the internationally important wetland standards.

"Since 2018, the estuary wetland has invested about 300 million yuan in ecological restoration, wetland management and protection infrastructure construction and wetland park construction, and has basically completed the treatment of mutual flower rice grass, return of habitat, habitat transformation, sea drift garbage treatment, and protection of rare and endangered species in the core area." Lin Wenbo, deputy director of the Management Committee of the Minjiang River Estuary National Wetland Park, said.

Located at the mouth of the Minjiang River in the northeast of Fuzhou's Changle District, the Minjiang Estuary Wetland is an important station on the migration route of migratory birds. At the beginning of ecological restoration, one of the major problems faced was the spread of mutual flowers and rice grasses.

In 2004, the rice grass began to invade the Minjiang estuary wetland, which soon caused problems such as soil compaction, shrinking living space of native plants, destroying intertidal wetland ecosystems, and affecting bird habitat.

"After a variety of attempts, we finally adopted physical methods such as 'cutting - rotary tillage' and artificial removal, and combined with the planting of mangroves (autumn eggplant), short-leaved amaranth, sea triangular grass, reeds and other restoration of local plant communities." Yang Wenxiu, chief engineer of the Management Office of the Minjiang River Estuary Wetland National Nature Reserve, said that the ecological protection and restoration project of the shanshui Lintian Lake grass in the reserve has completed the treatment of 1810 mu of mutual flower rice grass, and at the same time, a total of more than 39 million yuan has been invested to carry out a comprehensive "retirement and wetting" of the breeding ponds in the reserve, and then through the transformation of the sluice gate, the opening of the earth weir and other projects, the 2123 mu of retired area will be built into a "bird paradise" suitable for habitat and foraging.

"Ecology is not good, birds vote with their feet." Yang Jin, president of the Provincial Bird Watching Association, who has long observed birds in the estuary, witnessed the ecological changes in the estuary wetland. He said that after a series of ecological protection and restoration, the species and number of birds in the estuarine wetland have increased significantly.

Daily surveys show that the number of winter migratory birds in the Minjiang estuary wetland has exceeded 24,000, and there are more than 100 species. The number of waterbirds in the retired wet test area was nearly 5500 at its peak, and it remained at about 3500 in the winter, with more than 50 species, nearly doubling the number before the transformation.

"We have provided 113 jobs, and many of the wetland rangers and cleaners are residents in the surrounding areas, which alleviates the conflict between ecological protection and the production and life of local farmers, and also improves the residents' awareness of wetland protection." Lin Wenbo said.
