The Sanjiangyuan region, located in southern Qinghai Province, is one of the most densely populated areas of snow leopard activity in the world. Since 2010, with the support of technical guidance from Peking University, 50 young researchers from the Shanshui Nature Conservation Center have taken more than 100,000 snow leopard images in the Sanjiangyuan area, and identified more than 400 snow leopard individuals. Preliminary studies have shown that there are at least 1,000 snow leopards in the local population.
