Millie Bobby Brown became a world-renowned child star with the role of Evenn in Stranger Things, and she recently revealed to Allure magazine that before she was 10 years old, a powerful casting director had turned down her performance because she was "too mature".
It was also said that her maturity was not an advantage for a child star, and that she would never become an actress.
This reason even made her almost give up acting.
Millie Bobby Brown said, "I always knew I was more mature than kids my age, but I really couldn't."
"Going back to what I said before, I feel very lonely about who I am, I feel like no one in school is as mature as I am, and it's really hard [to hear these words] because I've always felt that maturity is a good thing. And then being told it wasn't true, that it was hard for me to get a foothold in the industry, and it hurt me a lot."
"I was really depressed," she continued, "and then my parents said to me: Just record the last audition and you can go out and play with your friends again." So I said, "Well, I should do this, because it looks so cool." That is, the "Stranger Things" that became popular around the world later.
Millie Bobby Brown has been passionate about acting since she was a child, and she liked to try different roles as a child, which is why the casting director's opinion shook her world.
"I love being different because I'm always struggling with self-identification and knowing who I am," she says.
"When I was younger, I always felt like I didn't belong in any circle. I'm also a bit lonely. In the crowded room, I always felt lonely, as if no one could really understand me. So I like to play a role that people understand, because I don't think anyone can understand the real me."
In an interview, she also revealed her current personal life, Millie Bobby Brown is currently a fresh person (online course) at Purdue University in the United States, and as she enters the next stage of her life, she will continue to play Olive in the fifth season (final season) of Stranger Things, which is expected to be released in 2023 or later.
