L'Oréal ushered in a new breakthrough.

Today (August 12th), a sharing session of L'Oréal's R&D and Innovation Center PRO-XYLANETMTM with the theme of "Sweet Anti-Aging, One Glass ALL IN" was held in Shanghai. At the meeting, L'Oréal unveiled 20 years of scientific research and product innovation on Bosein in an open and transparent manner, and unveiled a newly launched concentrated bosein raw material, Bosein PRO (PRO-XYLANE PRO).

"L'Oréal is a science-driven company and for more than 110 years, L'Oréal has been committed to providing quality, efficient, safe and responsible beauty products to every consumer through research and innovation." Masmin, vice president of L'Oréal's North Asia and China R&D and Innovation Center, said.

Two major breakthroughs: new raw materials + new technologies

According to this sharing meeting, L'Oréal's newly launched Bosein PRO, compared with the original Bosein raw materials, the two have different physical and chemical properties, which will have different effects on skin feeling and formula stability during formulation, providing more possibilities for subsequent product formulation development.

At the same time, L'Oréal has also released a new formulation technology – dual-permeation micropump technology.

Ma Rui, deputy director of skin care formulation research and development at L'Oréal China R&D and Innovation Center, said that the dual-penetration micro-pump technology is specially developed by L'Oréal Group for Bosein PRO, and the new technology can effectively solve the stability of the formula containing high concentration of Boseine raw materials and create a new skin experience for consumers.

According to Ma Rui, the research and development of the double-permeation micro-pump technology has undergone more than 700 formulation tests, "the test results show that the high-concentration Bose infestation cream using the dual-permeability micro-pump technology can achieve a bose absorption rate 20.9 times higher than that of the unused cream, far exceeding the concentration multiple difference of the raw material itself."

It is worth noting that this month, L'Oréal Paris's newly launched product - "20 Cream" (product name: L'Oréal Compound Hyaluronic Acid Water Radiance Radiance Radiance Light Wrinkle Cream) has attracted consumers because of its dual-permeable micro-pump technology and the addition of 20% concentrated bose due to PRO.

In addition, the second generation of purple iron eye cream (product name: L'Oréal Compound Hyaluronic Acid Water Radiance Full Face Light Wrinkle Eye Cream) launched in April this year has also been upgraded on the basis of the original generation of products, adding Bose pro raw materials, and the market has received a warm response on the market.

Bose became popular for 20 years

Some insiders pointed out that at present, Bose is very hot in the discussion of vitamin A alcohol and peptides, which are commonly used on the market, in the component party. Because of its recognized anti-aging effect in the industry, it is known as today's anti-aging three giants.

In fact, due to patent restrictions, Bosein has always been an ingredient of L'Oréal's home, running through the multi-brand product line of L'Oréal Group, from high-end Helena, to high-end Xiulico, to Vichy, L'Oréal Paris, etc., can be seen.

Dr. Maria Dalco-Sieba, inventor of bosein ingredients and scientist at L'Oréal's R&D and Innovation Center Maria DALKO-CSIBA) shared the process of inventing bosein: between 1999 and 2000, her team synthesized more than 200 xylose derivatives, evaluated from multiple perspectives such as safety, efficacy, stability and skin absorption rate, and selected one out of 200+ to finally select the molecule with excellent anti-aging performance - bosein.

She further said that after synthesizing bosein molecules, the formulators in L'Oréal's R&D and Innovation department worked hard for another two years before officially launching the first bosein-containing raw material product in 2006.

Dr. Qiu Jie, deputy director of scientific communication at L'Oréal China R&D and Innovation Center, also pointed out that human tests have proved that Boseine can improve wrinkles and fine lines by promoting the synthesis of glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) and proteoglycans. Glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) are an important target for skin anti-aging.

She also shared that L'Oréal R&D is still exploring the new effects of bosein, and found that bosein has the effect of strengthening the skin's self-repair mechanism and promoting the repair and anti-aging of the skin, "The discovery of bosein is of great significance and far-reaching effects on the field of skin anti-aging".

It is worth mentioning that as an active anti-aging ingredient independently developed by L'Oréal, in the course of more than 20 years of research, L'Oréal Group has published a total of 12 scientific literature related to bosein, and has applied for more than 70 patents related to bosein worldwide.

One technological breakthrough, two major iterative changes

Some senior industry insiders pointed out that as an international beauty giant, L'Oréal's actions in raw materials, technology, research and development and other fields have a beacon significance for the industry, "the launch of new ingredients and new technologies will also have a far-reaching impact."

First of all, Bosein is the representative of L'Oréal's innovative cooperation model. Masmin said that Bosein products combine the experience of French research and development with The insight of Chinese research and development on the needs of local consumers to create innovative products that meet the skin characteristics and anti-aging needs of Chinese consumers. "In the future, we will also make full use of the Group's research and development strength in the global and North Asian golden deltas, integrate superior resources, and serve Chinese consumers with more and better innovations, and benefit the world."

As early as March this year, L'Oréal China released the CO-X co-evolution model, which proposes five driving forces of co-creation, joint empowerment, common development, cooperative protection, and joint innovation. Among them, together to create changes, that is, "beauty technology creates the future of beauty", L'Oréal China accelerates cutting-edge scientific research and the application of new technologies.

Secondly, L'Oréal's breakthrough in research and development and innovation may drive the industry forward. Dr. Liu Zhibo, cutting-edge scientific research of L'Oréal China R&D and Innovation Center and coordinator of L'Oréal STRUN Project North Asia, shared that Bose has achieved industrial production in full compliance with 12 green chemical principles in the preparation of raw materials, becoming one of the representatives of anti-aging molecules prepared in accordance with green chemical principles in the industry.

According to him, bosein's chemical synthesis has been streamlined to two steps, and its two main raw materials are biological sources, from the by-products of the circular economy, replacing organic solvents with water in the production process, and using recyclable catalysts to minimize the impact on the environment.

It is reported that in order to continue to provide consumers with more effective, safe and environmentally respectful products, L'Oréal Group is committed to an important transformation of its R&D and innovation through the use of "green science" (i.e. biological science).

Next, L'Oréal will continue to deepen its cultivation in the field of raw material and technology applications.

"R&D and innovation are the core driving forces of the L'Oréal Group." Masmin has said that in 2021, L'Oréal Will spend a total of 1.029 billion euros on research and development, accounting for 3.2% of the group's total sales revenue. L'Oréal China has also entered a new era of R&D.
