Recently, my article "The Mid-Autumn Festival and the Origin of Mooncakes" in the book "Daily Life of Ancient People" published in 2019 has triggered criticism and correction from readers, and I hereby apologize.

Although I thought that the Mid-Autumn Festival was influenced by Silla, I always believed that the Mid-Autumn Festival was a traditional festival in China, and it was definitely not from South Korea. The reason for the ambiguity and misunderstanding of readers is that when referring to the "Miscellaneous Records of Wenchang" written by Pang Yuanying of the Northern Song Dynasty, the essay "The Mid-Autumn Festival Originates from the New Luo kao" published in the November 2003 issue of "Wen Shi Zhe", the reading comprehension questions contained in "Knowledge of Literature and History" (1996), and the "Journey to the Tang Dynasty to Seek the Law" written by Yuanren, a Japanese Tang monk, I failed to comprehensively introduce and analyze various views, and the expression was too arbitrary and one-sided. It is also not rigorous in the use of words, especially the word "foreign festival", which only pursues hot words, but creates ambiguity.

For everyone's criticism, I humbly accept, deeply reflect, and sincerely apologize. I have communicated with the publisher to delete the article in the electronic version of this book as soon as possible (screenshot below). Paper books are also reviewed and edited within a month.

When I wrote the book, I originally wanted to introduce more about the daily life of the ancient Chinese people and make a modest contribution to the popularization of traditional Chinese culture, but I did not want to misrepresent it due to lack of knowledge. In the future, I will improve myself and make a complete and accurate statement. More attention will be paid to promoting traditional culture and defending cultural self-confidence.

Finally, once again, I sincerely apologize for the problems in the book!

According to the China Intangible Cultural Heritage Network, the Mid-Autumn Festival on the mainland is an ancient custom of respecting the moon. In the Zhou Dynasty, there were already activities such as "Mid-Autumn Festival Night Greeting Cold", "Mid-Autumn Festival Offering Good Qiu", and "Autumn Equinox Sunset Moon (Moon Worship)"; In the Han Dynasty, the elderly were respected and aged on the day of the Mid-Autumn Festival or the Establishment of autumn; During the Jin Dynasty, there was already a Mid-Autumn Festival moon appreciation; It was not until the Tang Dynasty that the Mid-Autumn Festival was combined with myths and stories such as Chang'e Running Moon, Wu Gang Fa Gui, Jade Rabbit Pounding Medicine, Yang Guifei Changing Moon God, Tang Ming Emperor YouYue Palace, etc., to make it full of romantic colors, and the wind of appreciating the moon was greatly enhanced; In the Northern Song Dynasty, August 15 was designated as the Mid-Autumn Festival, and seasonal foods such as "small cakes such as chewing the moon, with crisp and food" appeared.

The related activities of the Mid-Autumn Festival are: 1. Spread the legends of the moon, Chang'e, jade rabbit, Wu Gang and so on; 2. Hold a moon festival ceremony; 3. Eat mooncakes; 4. Sacrifice the land for birthdays; 5. Do divination activities; 6. Send melon blessings; 7. In the Mid-Autumn Festival, activities such as moon viewing, fighting crickets, and raising crickets are carried out.

The biggest feature of the Mid-Autumn Festival is to pin the good wishes of man and nature on the heavens. The Mid-Autumn Festival coincides with the harvest season of agriculture, and mooncakes and melon fruits are both a medium of worship and a concrete symbol of people's good mood to celebrate the harvest.

"Good season, may it be every year, common Mid-Autumn Festival"

The Mid-Autumn Festival is a traditional Chinese festival

Absolutely an indisputable fact
