North Korea holds the same attitude toward national sovereignty and security issues. According to the KCNA news on July 28, on July 27 local time, the top leader of the DPRK said that the DPRK is fully prepared to deal with any military conflict with the United States. Just the day before, North Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs had written an article attacking the U.S.-South Korea joint military exercises, saying it could spark a second Korean War.
Since yoon Seok-wook's administration took office, the South Korean government's attitude toward north Korea has changed suddenly, not only frequently exploding tough remarks, but even greatly increasing the frequency of joint military exercises with the US military in an attempt to exert military pressure on north Korea. The joint provocation of the United States and South Korea has also caused uneasiness in North Korea.
So why did the U.S.-Rok military exercises give North Korea an urgent sense of threat? According to the DPRK, the United States and south Korea used F35-A stealth fighters, Apache Defender gunships and other weapons and equipment in this military exercise, and the SPOKESMan of the US Department of Defense even said bluntly that the exercise provided ample opportunities for preparation to deal with the threat from north Korea.
To this end, the DPRK regards the US statement as an "intention of aggression" and declares that the situation on the peninsula has deteriorated to the extreme, and has even endangered the security of Northeast Asia. The DPRK Ministry of Foreign Affairs pointed out quite sharply that the joint military exercises of the United States and its allies are the root cause of the deterioration of the situation on the peninsula, and as long as there are still US troops stationed in the region, peace on the peninsula will be impossible to achieve.
However, the South Korean side has another set of arguments. Since the beginning of the year, North Korea has repeatedly tested missiles, causing strong unease in South Korea. South Korea's Ministry of National Defense and Joint Staff Headquarters have previously issued statements saying that North Korea's move is a "serious threat" to the security of the peninsula and even the peace and stability of the international community.
Based on this, the United States and South Korea have jointly launched missiles in response. South Korean President Yoon Seok-yue has said with great force that the South Korean government will resolutely and solemnly deal with all provocations from the DPRK. The US Indo-Pacific Command and the US Military Command in South Korea also helped say that the ROK-US joint test launch exercise demonstrates the ability of the two countries to jointly cope with the crisis, and the ROK-US alliance will be committed to maintaining peace and prosperity in the peninsula.
Tracing back to the source, regular military exercises between the United States and the ROK are the root cause of tension on the peninsula, and the military exercise activities are normalized and expanded, and even if they do not hesitate to issue a statement and point the spearhead directly at the DPRK, then it is not difficult to understand the uneasiness of the DPRK.
The United States and South Korea have frequently accused North Korea of violating relevant United Nations resolutions, but from North Korea's point of view, this is nothing more than a legitimate move to exercise the right to self-defense. Moreover, the United States and South Korea themselves have jointly tested missiles to accuse the DPRK of not allowing only state officials to set fires and forbade the people to light lamps?
Tensions on the Korean Peninsula have also attracted close attention from the Chinese side. On 26 July, our Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Affairs, Liu Xiaoming, had a telephone conversation with Kim Jian, Minister of Peace Representations on the Korean Peninsula of the ROK Foreign Ministry, and the two sides exchanged views on the current situation on the Korean Peninsula.
Liu Xiaoming expounded China's consistent position that the root cause of the current stalemate on the Peninsula lies in the fact that the legitimate concerns of the DPRK have not been properly responded to. Although the United States is unashamedly talking about the denuclearization of the peninsula, it has been unable to show the sincerity and positive measures of the negotiations, forcing the DPRK to take corresponding actions to maintain its own security.
Liu Xiaoming said that China hopes that all parties can remain calm and restrained, move in the same direction and resolve each other's concerns in a balanced manner. China firmly supports the improvement of North-South relations and is willing to maintain close communication with the ROK to jointly promote the political settlement process of the Korean Peninsula issue.
Looking around the world, where the United States intervenes, there is often little peace.
