In 1965, Hungary was licensed to imitate the AKM assault rifle, and they made the amD-65 assault rifle with appropriate modifications to the shape of the rifle, which was so successful that Hungary sold it to more than a dozen countries and is still the standard equipment in some countries. Also in the same year, Hungary intended to modify the AMD-65 to make a rifle that would meet the needs of the police and the National Guard, the AMP-69.
AMP-69 retains the basic structure of the original assault rifle, following the principle of air-conductive automatic, the gas pipe is above the barrel, the rifle can be fired single or continuously, firing 7.62 ×39 mm ammunition, its standard ammunition supply has only a 30-round capacity arc magazine and a 10-round capacity magazine, which is different from the AMD-65, which also provides a 20-round capacity magazine, compatible with the light machine gun's 40-round magazine or 75-round drum, this difference is only in the logistics support system, the two guns are the same origin, In practice, it is believed that all kinds of ammunition supplies can be used universally.
So why does the AMP-69 only provide two kinds of magazines, which is related to the use of rifles, police, law enforcement units do not need too strong firepower, the 30-round magazine of conventional assault rifles is enough, and the 10-round magazine is specially used to accommodate empty packages.
Rifle muzzle can be installed with an adapter to fire gun grenades, available gun grenades are fragmented grenades, armor-breaking grenades, smoke grenades, tear gas, of which smoke grenades, tear gas should be more commonly used by the police, fragmented grenades can be used to break doors, and armor-breaking shells believe that law enforcement departments basically do not use. Before firing, the rifle needs to be adjusted to single-shot mode and replaced with an empty package, the switch of the air vent needs to be adjusted, the air guide channel needs to be closed, and more force is applied to the grenade.
When used as an assault rifle, the shooter aims through the top mechanical sight, and when firing the grenade, it is necessary to use the optical sight mounted on the left side of the gun body, and adjust the corresponding scale according to the distance of the target, and the maximum range of the grenade is 420 meters.
The original AMD-65 assault rifle used a simple folding stock that extended backwards with a curved metal rod, while the AMP-69 added spring shock absorption to reduce the impact on the human body, and the rifle also removed the front grip of the AMD-65 and made a larger handguard from a material that may have been polymer, probably to hold more firmly when firing grenades.
In fact, amp-69 and AMD-65 are very good rifles, although born from AKM, but many people said that guns are more sophisticated, maintain high reliability while the accuracy is also very high, AMP-69 optical equipment can make the gun grenade more accurate.
The funny thing is that Hungary's own use of AMP-69 is only equipped with a 10-round magazine that can accommodate empty packages, that is, it turns an assault rifle into a portable grenade launcher, which basically abandons the original function of the rifle, and I don't know what it is, but in the 70s, many were exported to the Middle East, these rifles are believed to be not limited by the magazine, the US military has captured it in the Middle East, and after taking it back to test and evaluate, it is considered better than AKM.
The total production of the AMP-69 is unknown, it is believed that it will not be too much, but it will not be less, in Hungary in addition to the police and other departments to adopt, the army has also been officially equipped, the gun was retired in the 80s.
