Indian painter Bijay Biswaal: Art is a form of expression, a passion without boundaries

Bijay Biswaal, born in 1964, is a watercolor artist from India and an Indian brand ambassador for Winsor and Newton in London.

Artist Bijay Biswaal quit his job at the Indian Railways to start a full-time career in art and is now world-famous for his watercolor work. Transformed from a railroad worker to a world-famous painter, Bijay Biswaal traveled the world creating art and spreading joy.

"Art is where my heart is, I can't imagine my life without painting, I started painting from a young age, although I didn't have any art school qualifications or degrees, but it didn't become an obstacle to my career. I am a self-taught artist and I am incredibly proud of it. I'm passionate about art, and it fascinates me so much. ”

Bijay Biswaal was born in Parala, Angur District, Odisha State, India. His works focus on the Indian Railways and sometimes document rural life in India.

When he was three or four years old, he picked up charred charcoal from the earth stove where his mother cooked and scribbled on the walls of his home, so he was scolded by his mother. From an early age, he seized every opportunity to paint on the surface of any object.

When he entered the school, he began to scribble on the chalkboard with chalk, and he was always able to draw something no matter what the material. "Art comes to me naturally." He said.

"I've never tried to define art, it's not something that can be explained in words or phrases. It is felt by the heart, not the mind. For me, art is a form of expression, a passion that has no boundaries. Art makes me truly happy. ”

Bijay Biswaal draws inspiration from nature and music. Sometimes he'll listen to music in the studio and draw for 8 to 9 hours, while his brush is carved on the canvas, "I think it's a spiritual connection, it's my ecstatic moment." ”
