Michael Fassbender

He's Magneto in the X-Men, he's the cheerful German guy, and he's Michael Fassbender.

Early life

Michael Fassbinder was born in Germany on 2 April 1977. His mother was Irish and his father was German. According to fassbinder legend, his mother was the great-grandnephew of Michael Collins, the irish leader during the Revolutionary War.

When Fassbinder was two years old, his parents moved to the rural parish of Fossa near the town of Killarney, County Klee, Ireland, where he ran a restaurant called West End House, where his father had been a cook. His parents later moved to Kerry because they wanted their children to grow up in the countryside rather than in the Context of the German industry where they had lived before.

Fassbinder has an older sister who is a neuropsychologist. Fassbinder spoke German fluently, though he later said before filming Shameless Bastard that he needed to recapitalize his spoken German because it was "a bit rusty."

Fassbinder attended Fossa State School and St. Brendan's College, and at the age of 17, when he was chosen by Donner Courtney as an actor, he decided to pursue an acting career. At the age of 19, he moved to London to study at the London Drama Centre, a constituent school of Central St Martins. In 1999, he dropped out of theatre centres to tour the play Three Sisters with the Oxford Stage Theatre Company. Before he got a job as an actor, he worked as a bartender and postman, including doing market research for Royal Mail and working for Dell Computer.
