In order to meet the demand for tea from their own nobles, the British planted tea seeds stolen from Fujian, China, in Sri Lanka, so that Sri Lanka became one of the bases for providing tea for the entire system of Great Britain, from which the famous "Ceylon black tea" was born. This has also made Sri Lanka's agriculture increasingly homogeneous, with tea and rubber as the main crops.
The British also artificially wanted to complicate the local ethnic group in Sri Lanka in order to facilitate control, so they attracted a large number of Tamils from India... Sri Lanka has been struggling to cope with this kind of internal friction for many years and is exhausted.
The biggest opportunity for post-independence Sri Lanka, especially in recent years, is the rise of the Eastern powers and the opportunities created by the Belt and Road Initiative. If the country's economy can be linked to the great powers of the East, the prospects for Sri Lanka are infinitely bright.
Sadly, Sri Lankan politicians were hesitant and hesitant in this regard, and under the manipulation of the United States and the West, the previous government fell to the West in a comprehensive way.
