Chris Hemsworth said he almost lost the role of Thor to his brother Liam

Chris Hemsworth revealed that his brother Liam Hemsworth nearly beat him to play Marvel's Thor.

Chris was recently interviewed by MensXP while promoting Marvel's latest movie, Thor: Love and Thunder, in which the 38-year-old played the lead role in the latest work in the series. In an interview with Gaurang Chauhan, Chris discussed the possibility of Thor interacting with the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) multiverse, and who he wanted to play as a variant of Thor.

The variant in the MCU is an alternate version of the character in another timeline.

"My younger brother (Liam Hemsworth) was almost chosen as Thor," Chris said. "But I didn't know I could meet him. That would be interesting. ”

Regarding Thor and the Multiverse, Chris said it didn't appear in "Thor: Love and Thunder," but it might come later.

"In this film, it's not something we're exploring. But who knows if there will be more in the future, and as you say, it has opened up numerous options that we can enter or be absorbed," Chris told MensXP.

Hollywood has three Hemsworth brothers: Luke, 41, Chris, and Lyam, 32. Luke played a recurring role in HBO's "Westworld" and an unknown character in "Thor: Love and Thunder."

Liam Hemsworth made his name with the "Hunger Games" series of movies and starred in Qube's "Most Dangerous Game" in 2020.

In an interview with Wired magazine auto-complete in June, Chris said he initially thought his audition for Thor magazine was "terrible." "I auditioned for Thor years ago, probably 11 or 12 years ago, and I didn't get a call back," Chris told Wired. "I think my audition sucks.

He continued: "Then my brother auditioned and he was very close - he got to the last five. And didn't get it. They said, 'Look, he's great, but he's a little younger.'

Chris said his manager recommended him for the role and he was re-audited.

"I came back and auditioned a few times, just with a different attitude. Maybe I had a little more motivation for my little brother to take a look and I didn't," Chris told Wired. "I also made a couple of films between these two auditions, so I have more experience and confidence in what I'm going to do.
