Edit: Joey

Tesla employees have not been less angry recently, and now the employees' office attendance time must also be monitored, which has caused everyone to complain.

Tesla is doing things again.

This time it is the turn of the employee to check the post, and the employee who punches in for less than 40 hours will receive an investigation email.

On Tuesday, a Tesla employee posted on Blind, a social networking platform for its careers, that "Tesla is monitoring employees' office attendance."

The email informed the person that he had not used their badge to enter the Tesla factory for "at least 16 days in the past month." A Tesla employee confirmed the authenticity of the email to Insider.

You received this email because there is no record of you using your badge to enter the Tesla factory for at least 16 days during the 30-day period ending June 28. As a reminder, all full-time employees should go back to the office. We know that there are a variety of reasons why you might not be clocked in, including illness, vacation, or business trip. In any case, please email your manager to explain the reason for your absence and send a copy to the [email protected]"

A Tesla spokesperson did not respond to Insider's request for comment.

As early as May 31, it was reported that Elon Musk told employees that "you must work at least 40 hours a week in the office" or you will have to get out.

Netizens complained

As soon as the news came out, netizens complained that they "soft control" employee freedom.

There are also employees who post complaints about this surveillance behavior, "This feeling is very bad, I can't describe it in words, I feel that this is a kind of cross-line, which is very disrespectful to employees."

In fact, during the outbreak, employees were asked to work on site.

And it was recently reported that Tesla employees had difficulty finding desks and parking spaces at its Fremont facility.

Some managers even told employees that due to the lack of office space, "no more than five days a week", which obviously contradicted Musk's requirements.

Strict inspection of attendance, not only Tesla

Tesla isn't the first company to track employee check-ins.

In April, it was reported that JPMorgan chase had begun using "dashboards and reports" to track office attendance.

The company used the data to enforce quotas for employees returning to the office, such as having managers "call and email employees who don't meet expectations for reinstatement."

As soon as the news came out, many employees said that this reinstatement policy prompted them to leave their jobs and find new jobs.

Tesla employees are likely to react similarly.

Earlier this month, recruiters at tech giants including Amazon and Microsoft began campaigning on the professional social networking site LinkedIn, targeting Tesla employees who might be unhappy with Musk's reinstatement policy.

Before Tesla's new policy was introduced, Musk said he planned to lay off about 10 percent of his salaried employees out of concerns about the future of the U.S. economy.

Recently, there are media reports that Tesla's new round of layoffs has begun.
