Introduced to the sport of F1 in 2018, HALO is made of titanium alloy and is a system designed to provide drivers with full head protection in formula-based open-wheel races. It is mainly used to protect riders from flying debris and retains the open cockpit unique to Formula racing. Tests have shown that the HALO system is capable of withstanding a static load of 15 times the mass of the vehicle itself in the event of a vehicle-to-vehicle collision, significantly reducing potential injuries. That is to say, this 7 kg weight part can withstand an impact force of about 12 tons and is the strongest part of the whole car. There is a more vivid metaphor in the official F1 description - bearing the weight of a double-decker bus.
When it was first introduced, many teams and drivers didn't like this thing, thinking it was dispensable, but with its repeated magical roles in accidents, this kit can already be called a life-saving artifact and has become a vital kit in F1 racing.
