At this year's Milan Design Week, the Dutch architectural team MVRDV and the Belgian lighting brand Delta Light jointly launched a colorful "High Profile" series of luminaires, inspired by the remaining aluminum profiles, which not only shows the possibility of discarded materials, but also prompts everyone to find beauty from neglected materials in daily life.
As a regular at Milan Design Week, Delta Light has once again teamed up with MVRDV, which has been working with many times, which is extremely insistent on high quality, bold and colorful designs, and creative use of materials. MVRDV was interested in the interesting contrasts of Delta Light luminaires, with aluminum profiles stacked in white, silver, gold, black and other shades in its factory inspired the design of this new series.
The fascinating details of aluminium profiles are hidden in the ceiling and walls, and the birth of high profile luminaires reproduces the beauty of these materials. The dimensions of Delta Light's original luminaires were adjusted, and the remaining scrap materials were used to create cube-shaped chandeliers, arched wall lamps and standing lamps, etc., and the colors highlighted MVRDV's iconic and expressive colors, including pink and light green, as well as light blue and ochre, etc., adding a soft breath to the stiff industrial appearance.
In addition to the lighting equipment, the light and shadow changes created by the High Profile further set off the aesthetic atmosphere of the space, which is playful. The production process of the series of luminaires does not forget the reuse and sustainability of materials, or the use of existing components, or the luminaires can be directly disassembled, partially materiald and reusable, reducing the impact on the environment.
