Spoohl possessed highly classified U.S. military technology

The nuclear physicist is reportedly John Spore from Texas, USA. Project Dynamo, a nonprofit relief organization formed by U.S. veterans, was transferred out of Maliupol, under Russian control, on Wednesday (22nd). Spor has reportedly been living in Mariupol for several years. During the siege, due to the sensitivity of his profession, he went into hiding. Project Dynamo was quoted as saying that the Chechen army "has been actively pursuing him."

The rescue group said Spoohl possessed highly classified U.S. military technology, which it was seen as a "high-value target" for The Russian military and intelligence services. If he falls into Russian hands and is interrogated, it will cause serious damage to U.S. and NATO forces. According to reports, Spore's work on laser-guided weapon systems has also been praised in the United States for designing sensitive technologies.

Project Dynamo said the group had been working on the "complex and dangerous" mission for more than a month to ensure that Spoo was evacuated from the area without fail. With the assistance of the organization and the Ukrainian security services, Spor successfully passed through more than 30 Russian checkpoints in eastern Ukraine and was escorted by evacuation vehicles into Poland for more than 20 hours.

Spooll was escorted to the evacuation vehicle

"It took 20 hours in Ukraine alone. It also took about 10 hours in the Russian-controlled area. Brian Stern, co-founder of Project Dynamo, said. Most of Ukraine and our (planned) route are relatively safe, but there are many, many checkpoints. Every checkpoint was very dangerous for him. ”

Stern said they had to take different actions to cover up Spor's identity during the evacuation. Due to the special nature of the mission, some of the details and locations of the evacuation were not revealed.

According to reports, the group began planning to transfer the nuclear physicist because his family contacted the U.S. State Department and lawmakers to request emergency assistance, and then recommended to Project Dynamo to take charge of the task. The U.S. State Department said on the 22nd that they had learned of Spor's successful evacuation from Ukraine and reiterated that all U.S. citizens who are still in Ukraine should leave immediately.
