From the center of Nan'ao County, drive along the winding mountain road for 20 minutes to reach the back garden village of Shen'ao Town. Here, the island's special climate of high humidity, soil with suitable pH, and unique natural environment provide unique geographical and ecological conditions for the industrial development of The Back Garden Village.
Due to its location in the depths of the mountains, inconvenient transportation and closed information, before 2000, the per capita annual income of Houhuayuan Village was less than 900 yuan. For more than 20 years, on the road of exploring industrial development, the party branch of Houhuayuan Village has taken the lead in going up the mountain to open up the wasteland according to the unique geographical, climatic and soil characteristics of Houhuayuan Village, and collectively developed dozens of acres of tea gardens. In the evening, many tourists' eyes focus on the colorful "square" on the sea near the mapu village in Shen'ao Town, under the ancient banyan tree on the side of the mapu village section of the ring road, photography enthusiasts are even more active, mobile phones, SLR cameras, drones and other photography tools have been aimed at the color "square", the distant "rainbow sea" into the "pocket".
In fact, before 2019, this is not what it looks like. Cheng Chengxiao, head of the villagers' group in Zoumapu Village, recalled that in the past, there were many weeds growing next to the banyan trees, and there was no place for tourists to stay. The village industry is based on offshore fishing and breeding of dragon's whiskers and oysters, because of the need to dry longsu vegetables, many years ago the villagers removed all the weeds next to the banyan trees, and the vacant land was used to dry the dragon's whiskers, not only that, the villagers also built tin houses in this drying field, each tin house covers an area of more than 40 square meters, for storing tools, including Cheng Chengxiao's own relatives.
In 2019, in response to the call for the construction of beautiful villages, village party members and cadres, including Cheng Chengxiao, mobilized villagers to demolish illegal tin houses and "return green to the people". "Party members and cadres must take the lead at this time. After mobilization, all 4 of my own relatives were demolished first. Cheng Chengxiao said that after the demolition, the higher-level party committee also planted turf for the place. On December 10, Nan'ao County began to promote ecological breeding, banned the use of foam floats, and promoted the replacement of new environmentally friendly floats with colors. Soon after, a colorful "square" appeared in the waters of Shen'ao Town, and the popularity of Zoumapu Village became more and more popular, and the space under this banyan tree also became a punching point for many tourists, and the locals affectionately called this tree "Punching Banyan Tree".
Coincidentally, in the Nan'ao County Haidao National Forest Park Management Committee, there is also such a group of party members, who take the lead in demolishing illegal buildings and returning a "refreshing" environment in the park scenic area.
Nan'ao County Haidao National Forest Park is the first island national forest park in mainland China, with a forest coverage rate of 92.3%, known as "natural oxygen bar" reputation. The Park Management Committee administers an administrative village, Huanghuashan Village, which is dominated by tea planting, farm stays, and rural tourism.
"Since the second half of 2020, the park management committee has continuously guided party members to play an exemplary and leading role in the rural 'three cleansing, three demolitions, and three rectifications' through theme party day activities, cleaning up 7 households in the Guicheng scenic spot and demolishing 106,000 square meters of illegal buildings." Zeng Yipeng, secretary of the party committee of the park management committee, said that the management committee also built a "party and mass service station" in the Guicheng scenic spot, and the party group of the organ and the village party group jointly carried out party member volunteer activities to provide services for the majority of party members and tourists in the scenic spot, enriched the service construction of the Guicheng leisure area, and further strengthened the relationship between the party and the masses.
