Turkish food companies are seeking a larger share of the U.S. market

Turkish food companies, which seek to increase exports to the U.S. to $2 billion over four years, performed strongly at the New York Summer Fancy Food Show.

About 30 companies from Turkey participated in the trade fair held from June 12 to 14. Local industries are now aiming to increase exports to the United States, which crossed the $1 billion threshold for the first time last year.

Last year, U.S. food imports rose to $175 billion, while the Turkish food industry exported more than $1 billion to the country. Turkey aims to increase its exports to the United States to $2 billion over the next four years.

The New York Summer Fancy Food Show, which was rerun this year after the pandemic was interrupted for two years, featured 2,400 participants from 21 countries.

Participants showed great interest in the Turkish products on display at the show, such as dry food, canned food, olive and olive oil, pasta products, cheese, ice cream and desserts.

At the booth, food made according to recipes in the Turkish Taste Reference Cookbook was offered to visitors.
