"I" = Yan Hua
At first, Zhang Xin drew a simulated portrait of the murderer based on the description of the witness at the scene of Chen Mo's shooting, and after investigation, it was found that the woman in the portrait was named Yan Hua, but had died seventeen years ago.
Even though Zhang Xin once had doubts about his portrait technique, strangely enough, he still logically believed that the "I" in the diary found at the scene was Yan Hua, who had been dead for seventeen years.
According to the diary, "I" was the chief of that performance seventeen years ago.
So Zhang Xin made up for Yan Hua's experience in his own brain:

Zhang Xin's analysis stuck after the performance, and a sentence was mentioned in the diary: "I went to Guangzhou after I died..."
The first time I saw this sentence, the first thing that came to my mind was Yan Hua Li Daitao's drama:

However, this would not explain why she came back years later to kill Chen Mo to avenge herself.

Obviously, Zhang Xin had a new view on this sentence, he thought that his portrait was wrong, and the owner of the diary should be Lin Yin.
After all, Lin Yin was the only person in the dance team at that time who had plans to go to the south to develop, and decided to leave after the performance.
Coupled with the narration of Mei Li, a member of the dance team, the chief of the performance that year was Lin Yin, and after the performance, she met Yan Hua when she went to find Lin Yin.
Yan Hua said that Lin Yin had left, and that time was also the last time Mei Li saw Yan Hua.
It is well explained that Chen Mo originally planned to kill Lin Yin, who was leaving the county seat, but accidentally killed Yan Hua. Lin Yin, who knew the truth, returned to the county town seventeen years later and killed Chen Mo to avenge Yan Hua.
In this way, the explanation about "I went to Guangzhou after I died..." can be explained, but the diary was all Yan Hua's business at the beginning, why did Lin Yin use Yan Hua's feeling and perspective to write a diary?

If there is no such sentence in the diary
If you think about it, if the diary does not mention "I went to Guangzhou after I died...", Zhang Xin's initial portrait and analysis, except for the reasons for Yan Hua's qualification for the dance team, are basically correct.
It is because of this sentence that Zhang Xin overturned his conclusion and guided himself in a wrong direction.
If insisting on the portrait is correct, insisting that the owner of the diary and the murderer of Chen Mo is Yan Hua, and then it is likely to wonder whether the person who died that year is Yan Hua...
However, these are all based on the premise that the causes and consequences are already known, and normal people will think that their previous inferences are wrong when they come up to know that the suspect in the portrait is dead, and when they see that they have "gone to Guangzhou after death".
Other clues
In addition to this sentence in the diary, there are many misleading clues set up in the film.
For example, Lao Li investigated Yan Hua's case seventeen years ago and found that it was a serial murder case, and he told Zhang Xin that he had investigated all the people in the cultural and labor troupe, except for Lin Yin.
Lin Yin left the area before Yan Hua died and went to Guangzhou.
In Lao Li's words, "leaving" happens before "death", in fact, it is the opposite.
In addition, at the beginning of the investigation, it was always believed that Lin Yin was preparing to leave the county after the performance, so she took it for granted that she was killed by Chen Mo on the way away after the performance.
In fact, on the night of the performance, Chen Mo called out Lin Yin, who was preparing for makeup, under the pretext of sending photos.
Before the performance, Lin Yin was dead, and later Yan Hua replaced her on the stage and became a continuation of her life.
In addition, there is a small detail arranged very interestingly.
In Yan Hua's diary, Mei Li smoked, and once complained that she could not light a cigarette when she was out of the dance team, yan Hua intimately found her an enamel cup and asked her to play soot.
