author:Xiao Wang talks about history

In 1929, on a cruise ship from the United States to China, several young men leaned against a railing and talked to each other.

These young people have studied in the United States for many years, and now that they have returned from their studies, they can't wait to return to the motherland they have in mind.

At that time, China was in constant war, and the people were living in deep waters, and the conditions were far inferior to those of the United States on the other side of the ocean.

At that time, students who chose to study abroad often had two purposes, one was to settle abroad, live and study; The second is to return to a certain official and a half-post after completing his studies.

But there was such a young man on the ship, tall and with clear eyes.

When the young people in his travels asked him which department he was going to work in after returning to China, he replied without hesitation: "Poor and backward China needs our young generation to change the face of the motherland with the knowledge we have learned, high salaries I can not want, superior life I can also give up, but my determination to serve the motherland will not change."

This tall young man was named Huang Jingwu.

Huang Jingwu was born in Chuansha County, Shanghai, and his father was Mr. Huang Yanpei, a famous educator in mainland China.

It is reasonable to say that with such a father, Huang Jingwu does not need to make much effort to live a stable and rich life.

However, he did not choose to be a rich second generation in peace and stability, but chose to study harder than ordinary people.

Because of his hard work and talent, he soon stood out among his peers, went to Tsinghua University to study in college, and chose to go to Harvard University in the United States for further study after graduation.

After completing his master's degree in the United States and getting a master's degree in economics, he immediately boarded a ship to return to China.

After returning to his hometown of Shanghai, he was appointed as an accountant at the Shanghai Salt Audit Institute. After having work, Huang Jingwu put 120% enthusiasm into his work, and he was determined to promote the formalization of salt accounting in the country.

However, there is often a gap between the ideal and the reality, when the national salt industry involved too many stakeholders, so that he encountered many obstacles in the work process.

Because he refused to cooperate with the profiteers, Huang Jingwu, who was conscientious in his work, actually received a suspension notice.

After being suspended, Huang Jingwu realized that it was not enough to rely on her own efforts, and that China was now in ruins, and that if she wanted to become completely rich, she must find like-minded people to repair her.

At that time, the depressed Huang Jingwu read at home all day, until one day he read an article called "On New Democracy", the content of which instantly ignited the flame in his heart that was about to be extinguished.

Chairman Mao's writings once again inspired him and gave him the way forward. Later, when the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression broke out, Huang Jingwu went to Chongqing and served as an inspector at the central bank at that time.

As a senior employee of the central bank, Huang Jingwu could choose to be pampered, but his patriotic fist and fist heart prompted him to actively participate in the anti-Japanese movement, and actively approached the Chinese Communist Party and adhered to the policy of the national war of resistance.

After the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japan, Huang Jingwu moved back to Shanghai with the central bank, and at that time, in addition to being a bank clerk, he also served as a dual identity of the Democratic League and the Democratic National Construction Association.

In his long-term experience in the National Government, Huang Jingwu deeply knew that the Nationalist Government at that time was corrupt and incompetent, and had reached the point where there was no cure.

After returning to Shanghai, he was elected as the executive officer of the Democratic Construction Association and led the members of the Democratic Construction Association in the struggle against the civil war and for democracy.

At that time, the Kuomintang authorities wantonly suppressed the democratic parties and attempted to establish a dictatorial government, and the living environment of the Minjian in this situation became more and more difficult.

Huang Jingwu, who was then the executive officer of the CIVIL Construction Association, took the initiative to take on the task of protecting the members of the Democratic Construction Association and the democrats, and he moved the activities of the Democratic Construction To the underground and assisted in the evacuation of a large number of democrats.

In the end, Huang Jingwu became a layman of the CCP's Shanghai Counter-Insurgency Working Committee at the time, and the central bank on the Bund also became a stronghold of the party's secret activities.

At the end of 1948, due to the gradual defeat on the frontal battlefield, the Kuomintang authorities were ready to withdraw from the mainland.

And issued a large order to speed up the shipment of gold and dollars from the central bank's reserves to Taiwan. In early 1949, when Huang Jingwu learned that the Kuomintang was transporting gold, he took the case. He began to organize the central bank's employee strikes to protect national financial assets.

Due to the joint efforts of Huang Jingwu and the underground party, the process of transporting the last batch of kuomintang property was hindered by many obstacles, which also made Huang Jingwu a major problem for kuomintang agents.

After the golden time of the anti-transport movement, the People's Liberation Army's million male divisions crossed the Yangtze River graben and approached Shanghai. As the son of Mr. Huang Yanpei, a great educator, Huang Jingwu had done so many things to hinder the actions of Kuomintang agents before, and his situation was very dangerous.

Whether to hold out or retreat, Huang Jingwu, who has been on the "blacklist", is not thinking about this problem at this time.

What he considered was to transfer the roster of organizations and some important materials of the CDB to a secret place, because these materials recorded the list of members of the CDB and the address of the correspondence, and if they fell into the hands of the Kuomintang agents, it would be the lives of hundreds of MEMBERS of the CDB.

He handed the documents to his trusted colleagues, and after repeated instructions, he still insisted on working as usual, waiting for the People's Liberation Army to enter the city.

But what he was waiting for was a Kuomintang agent. On May 12, 1949, Huang Jingwu walked into Office 404 of the Central Bank Building, was escorted away by a masked agent who had been waiting for a long time, and never returned. At the beginning of Huang Jingwu's arrest, Chairman Mao and others received the news and immediately ordered that huang Jingwu be rescued at great expense.

At that time, the person in charge of guarding Huang Jingwu was named Mao Sen, the nephew of Mao Renfeng, the head of the secret service, and he was originally a greedy person, so the Party Central Committee issued an order to rescue him at all costs.

However, this time, Mao Sen received an order from Mao Renfeng and did not dare to collect money to release Huang Jingwu.

Finally, in the early morning of May 18, Huang Jingwu was buried alive with his legs broken after several days of inhuman torture.

Nine days after Huang Jingwu's sacrifice, Shanghai was liberated, and all the People of Shanghai were immersed in the joy of Shanghai's liberation and greeted the arrival of New China.

However, not everyone can see this scene alive, Huang Jingwu, a "person who rubbed shoulders with New China" made outstanding contributions to the cause of liberation before his death, but sacrificed on the eve of liberation, thinking of the scene when he was full of spirit on the steamship and determined to serve the country, which made people sigh.
