Lavender Farms should be on your on-Site travel list this summer, though there's still a month or so left from the flower season.

There are several beautiful lavender farms in Ontario, many of which are close to Toronto. Whether you want to take the perfect photo or pick your own lavender, these farms have plenty to offer.

Terre Bleu Lavender Farm (Terre Bleu)

Ontario's most famous and largest lavender farm, and you've probably heard of it, is Terbru.

The 200-acre farm near Milton grows more than 75,000 lavender plants. Take a self-guided tour through the purple fields and visit the farm's essential oil distillery.

If you're lucky, you can see workers brewing fresh lavender essential oil on site. The farm also features ornate outdoor art installations such as the Rhubarb Gate.

Bonnieheath Estate

Bonnesis Manor should also be on your list. An hour's drive outside Hamilton, this 129-acre farm offers self-harvested lavender, and the estate also has 10 acres of vineyards.

Freshly picked lavender bunches are sold at different prices, and this year the farm even got no admission.

The Bonnesis Estate is open from Wednesday to Sunday from May, and in June they will be extended. If you're looking for the perfect lavender as a photo backdrop, you might want to wait until July when the lavender is in full bloom before going to the farm.

Avalon Lavender Farm

If you live in Toronto, Avalon Lavender Farm is far away. Located an hour and a half outside downtown Toronto, the farm is home to more than 30,000 British and French lavender plants.

You can have a picnic on site, and the farm also allows you to cut your own lavender bouquets.

The farm is open in mid-June and there are seven slots to choose from every day from Thursday to Sunday.

NEOB Lavender Farm (NEOB Lavender)

NEOB Lavender Farm is a gorgeous farm located on the shores of Lake Niagara that sells over 150 unique lavender products, including essential oils.

The farm used to allow self-harvesting of lavender, so keep an eye out for this year's latest rules.

Tickets are available on both the farm and online, and you can visit the estate for free.

The estate also has a 15,000-square-foot conservatory to visit and is included in the entrance fee. From June 1, you can roam the lavender fields on the farm.

Laveanne Farm

Not to be overlooked is Lavian Farm, a lavender farm that covers only four acres but has a stunning 30-meter diameter meditation labyrinth.

You can pre-book your visit time and date online. The farm is recommended to visit when the lavender is in bloom, usually in the second or third week of July.

Be sure to bring a picnic blanket as the farm allows you to have small picnics in lavender. Lavian Farm is open from 1 July.
