I believe that everyone has brushed the video of king crab, it is very large, the meat is delicious, it looks like the kind of food with full color and flavor, so it is also the plate that many food bloggers like to choose as a plate to eat.
But such a delicious king crab is not easy to mess with, it has invaded Europe and even Antarctica, but why has it not become a popular food in China like crayfish?

In September 2011, 850 meters below the continental shelf off The Coast of Antarctica, there was a mud bed basin where scientists had found more than 1 million giant king crabs. And this is not an ordinary discovery, it also means that the catastrophe of survival in the Antarctic sea is coming.
Invasion of Europe
King crabs originally lived in the cold waters of the North Pacific. But in the 1960s, the Soviet Union brought the king crab to the Barron Sea for artificial breeding, and in this breeding process, the king crab has escaped many times, but has not succeeded, and in this breeding environment, the king crab because there is no threat of natural enemies, coupled with edible starfish, sea urchins, fish and shrimp are very rich, creating a very good breeding environment, from which it began a stage of rapid growth and reproduction.
It is reported that king crabs can breed after growing to 4 years old, the reproduction of a single female crab can reach 10,000, and the small king crab has learned to live in groups before adulthood, which undoubtedly enhances their defense ability, but also greatly improves the probability of small king crabs becoming adults, so the king crab family can grow rapidly, and soon, they will expand from the Barents Sea to the nearby waters of Norway. But this was not their end, and then they multiplied and expanded into the waters of Britain and France, and so far they have basically swept across the entire European sea, and the number of king crabs in Norwegian waters alone has exceeded 20 million.
Invasion of Antarctica
Not only that as early as 2003, people have detected the existence of king crabs in Antarctica, with the continuous intensification of global warming, the glaciers in Antarctica have melted again, and the water temperature of king crabs has begun to rise, and the water temperature of king crabs has undoubtedly provided living conditions for king crabs, so it began to march to Antarctica, and more than 10 million king crabs have been found in 2011. King crabs dominate Antarctica with their natural large crab claws and the lack of large predators in antarctic extreme environments. Faced with the aggressive king crab protected by a hard shell, the Antarctic marine life that has long been accustomed to a comfortable life has long been overwhelmed by the lack of coral reefs to hide. So king crabs thrive in Antarctica, competing with native creatures for resources.
The overbreeding of king crabs has destroyed the ecological environment of Antarctica. Allowing king crabs to multiply in this way will inevitably lead to marine desertification and the destruction of ecosystems, which is not only a catastrophe for Antarctica, but may even affect the global ecological balance.
The overbreeding of one race can lead to an ecological imbalance in a certain area, and the rapid reproduction and expansion of king crabs poses a great threat to the organisms of other seas, and their overbreeding has led to a great reduction in the number of other species, thus affecting the profits of nearby fishermen.
But why is it that the overbreeding of king crabs in Europe has not occurred in China?
Failed to invade the king crab in China
First of all, there are only two reasons why the Invasion of China has not been able to occupy a place, the first is that it is unpalatable, the second is that it is expensive, and the first reason is that the king crab meat is obviously delicious and cannot be the first reason, that is, the second reason is that the price is too expensive. The breeding period of king crabs is short, and the environmental temperature requirements for the survival of king crabs are low, so they can generally only be caught from October to November near winter, and they generally live in deep seas, and the fat crab period is short.
Secondly, the high cost of catching, king crabs live in the cold deep sea, the environmental temperature is low, such a living environment for fishermen to catch the cost is too high and difficult, and a fishing vessel can catch 5 days, the working time is too long the environment is too cold, it is also a great test for the crew, once it is not operated well, it may cause frostbite and can not work, and even if it encounters a storm at sea, it is possible to die unexpectedly. Therefore, the death and injury rate of workers who catch king crabs is 50 times that of other types of work, and their remuneration is also very high, which is why the cost of catching king crabs is high.
Then it is far from the mainland sea, the transportation cost is high, the sea where the king crab breeds is too far from the mainland, so if you want to import to the mainland, you also need to incur a large fee, the transportation cost is too high, resulting in the king crab is expensive, not the average civilian can afford to consume. Therefore, for most civilian foodies, king crab, even if the meat is delicious, is unlikely to become a common street delicacy like crayfish.
Finally, there are fishing quotas. The Russian and Norwegian governments have signed a treaty that stipulates that only 100,000 king crabs can be caught each year, and only a few fishing vessels with king crab fishing licenses in the treaty have corresponding fishing authorizations. But in the Chinese market alone, the consumption of king crabs has reached 50,000 tons, while the annual reproduction of king crabs is far more than 100,000 tons, and the emergence of this treaty has led to an imbalance between consumption and increase, which is why the price of king crabs is extremely high, but the population size is accelerating.
Overbreeding leads to ecological destruction
The overbreeding of king crabs is likely to cause ecological damage to antarctic waters, so the relaxation of the restriction on king crabs can improve the ecological field of Antarctica and make people who love food feast.
Chinese foodies will not be able to taste king crab until this regulation expires.
The over-reproduction and expansion of any one population will inevitably bring about ecological imbalances, so only by maintaining the balance between the various populations can we humans live in harmony with this nature and achieve symbiosis.
