Rape is a particularly complex crime that needs to be analysed. In several parts of the world, it is rarely reported. Women in some countries are less likely to document their complaints because women who have been raped or subjected to violence or fear of being denied by their families face extreme social stigma.
Statistics on rape and other sexual assaults are common in developed countries and are becoming more common. There are a large number of cases of rape around the world that go unreported. Here, we present statistics from the 10 highest rape crime countries. You'll be surprised to find that the most developed countries like the United States, Canada, Sweden, and the United Kingdom are the most deeply involved in this crime. Globally, about 36% of women experience physical or sexual intimacy violence. In the United States, 53 percent of girls ages 12 to 16 have experienced some form of sexual harassment in public schools. In England, one in ten women (aged 16 to 59) has experienced some form of sexual violence.
10. Denmark and Finland
In Europe, one in three women has experienced some form of physical or sexual assault and 5 percent have been raped.
According to a 2014 study published by the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights, about 27% of women surveyed in Finland are said to have experienced physical and/or sexual abuse; 22% in Denmark are said to have suffered physical and/or sexual abuse. Finland was one of the last countries in the European Union to criminalize marital rape, which was outlawed in 1994.
More than one in ten women surveyed said they had experienced some form of adult sexual violence before the age of 15. Since the age of 15, 1 in 10 people have experienced some form of sexual violence and 1 in 20 people have been raped. More than one in five have experienced physical and/or sexual violence from their current or former partner. Only 13% of women reported their worst incidents to the police. (Source).
9. Zimbabwe
Zimbabwe ranks 9th among the countries with the highest rape crime rates in the world. In Zimbabwe, at least one woman is raped every 350 minutes. According to the latest statistics from Zimbabwe's National Statistical Office (ZimStat), 500 women are sexually abused every month – about 16 women are raped every week.
A total of 1,524 cases were reported in the first three months of this year, up from 1,285 in the same period last year. Of these reported cases, 780 were children (11 to 16 years) and 276 were children aged 5 to 10 years. However, there are concerns that this number could be higher as some cases go unreported. (Link).
According to UNICEF, child rapes in Zimbabwe have increased by 42%. It said the number of cases of rape of minors reported to police surged from 2,192 in 2010 to 3,112 in 2014. In an atmosphere of secrecy and denial, many other cases may not have been reported.
8. Australia
In Australia, the rape rate per 100,000 people reported is relatively high. Last year, an estimated 51,200 Australians aged 18 and over were victims of sexual assault. Nearly a third (30%) of victims of sexual assault reported their recent experiences to the police.
According to news.com, 1 in 10 Australian women have to face torture by non-partner rape, compared with 14 women worldwide. It said Australian women over the age of 15 were victims of rape. Australia (which participated with New Zealand) ranked third in the world for a study in which 6% of women reported being raped by someone other than their partner.
Karen Willis, executive officer at the NSW Rape Crisis Centre, said more than 70 per cent of sexual assaults were committed by family members, friends, work or school colleagues. Another 29% of rapes were committed by someone the woman met in a social setting or on a date. Only 1 percent of rapes, she said, were committed by strangers.

7. Canada
Of all violent crimes reported to the police, the rate of sexual assault in Canada is rising rapidly. According to the Huffington Post, there are 260,000 sexual assaults in the country each year. It said 33 out of every 1,000 sexual assaults were reported to police and 29 were recorded as crimes.
A quarter of North American women have to face the torture of rape in their lifetime. 11% of women suffer physical injuries as a result of this torture. According to statistics, only 6% of incidents will be reported to the police. More than 80% of the victims were women, the most incidents occurred at home, and 80% of the attackers were friends and family members of the victims. The most disturbing fact is that 83 per cent of women with disabilities will be sexually assaulted throughout their lives. Of all sexual assault victims, 17 per cent were girls and 15 per cent were boys under the age of 16.
6. New Zealand
In 2013, the Roast Busters scandal revealed the truth about rape in New Zealand. A group of young men from Auckland's West End, calling themselves "barbecue busters," allegedly tried to gang rape underage girls by intoxicating them.
According to the British medical journal The Lancet, the rate of sexual assault in New Zealand is much higher than the world average. It ranks third with a female population of 16.4 per cent, alongside Australia.
According to the report published by the Minister of Justice, there is an attack involving sexual violence in New Zealand every two hours. Statistics now suggest that one-third of girls and one in six boys may have been sexually abused before the age of 16.
Sexual assault rose 15 percent in a year and doubled in schools. In New Zealand, only 9% of sexual offences are reported (registered by the police). 5. India
Rape and sexual violence are a big problem in India. According to the National Criminal Records Agency (NCRB), crimes against women have increased by 7.5 percent since 2010. The number of reported rapes in India, a country of more than 1.2 billion people, rose from 24,923 in 2012 to 33,707 in 2013. Most rape victims are between the ages of 18 and 30. About one-third of the victims were under the age of 18 and one in ten rape victims were under the age of 14. In India, a woman is raped every 60 minutes.

According to 2013 statistics, New Delhi has the highest number of reported rapes among Indian cities. Last year, the city reported an average of four rapes. Of the total number of rapes, New Delhi (1,636) is followed by Mumbai (391), Jaipur (192) and Pune (171). Madhya Pradesh is the highest of all other states, with an average of 11 rapes per day. Madhya Pradesh (4,335 cases) is followed by Rajasthan (3,285 cases), Maharashtra (3,063 cases) and Uttar Pradesh (3,050 rapes).

4. England and Wales
In the UK, rape is not a gender-neutral crime. This is a crime that can only be committed by a man against a person. In addition, to date, the UK has not followed the trend in many countries to classify acts other than penis insertion (e.g., insertion with objects, fingers) as rape. (Rape Statistics UK).
According to a report published in 2013 by the Ministry of Justice (MoJ), the National Office for National Statistics (ONS) and the Home Office titled "Overview of Sexual Offences in England and Wales", there are about 85,000 rape victims in England and Wales each year – 73,000 women and 12,000 men, equivalent to about 23 cases per day. The report states that 1 in 5 women have experienced some form of sexual violence since the age of 16.
According to the BBC, the number of rapes reported and recorded to police is at an all-time high, with an increase of 29% as overall crime rates in England and Wales have declined.
According to an NSPCC study of young people (aged 13 to 18), one in six girls and 10 percent of boys have experienced sexual violence, and as many as 250,00 adolescent girls have been abused at any one time. 9% of boys and 3% of girls reported sexual violence against their partners.
3. United States
According to The George Mason University's global assault statistics, one in nine U.S. women will be sexually abused in their lifetime. About 9.3% of women and 2% of men have been raped at least once in their lifetime. In addition, an estimated 13.9% of women and 2.4% of men have experienced other forms of sexual violence in their lifetime. Many victims of sexual abuse become victims at a young age, with about 39 percent being raped for the first time before the age of 25 and 40 percent being raped before the age of 18. According to RAIN, every 120 minutes, one person in the U.S. is sexually assaulted. An average of 293,00 victims (12 years of age or older) are sexually assaulted each year. 68% of sexual assaults were not reported to the police. 98% of rapists will never spend a day in prison.
Rape and sexual assault in college:
On average, college-age women and men experience rape sexual assault each year (65,668+ and 2,866+). More than a quarter of college-age women report having experienced rape or attempted rape since they were 14 years old. Of these, only 16% of cases were reported. Women aged 18 to 24 experienced higher rates of rape and sexual assault compared to women in other age groups. The rape crime rate for non-students is 1.2 times higher than that of students. Female students are more likely to be raped or sexually assaulted at home, while non-students are more likely to be at home. Rape in U.S. prisons;
According to the Department of Justice, more men than women are raped in U.S. prisons — 216,000 inmates are raped each year in the U.S. According to the latest National Prisoner Survey, 4 percent of inmates, 3.2 percent of inmates, and 9.5 percent of inmates who are detained by juveniles say they are victims of sexual abuse. Nearly 7 percent of women said they had been sexually assaulted by inmates, while more men said they had been beaten by staff.
2. Sweden
Sweden now has the second highest number of rapes in the world, after South Africa, with 53.2 cases per 100,000 people. Statistics now show that 1 in 10 Swedish women is a victim of rape. However, if you look at the number of rapes, the increase is even worse. In 1975, only 421 rapes were reported to the police, compared to 6,620 in 2014. An increase of 1,472%. 1. South Africa
