Artist Giovanni Domenico Tiepolo is the eldest son of the famous Italian painter Giovanni Battista Tiepolo. Born in Venice in 1727. From childhood, he helped his father in the studio, a student and a carver, and in 1747 he painted 14 small paintings depicting the passion of Christ. The Italian public took note of the young artist's first paintings.

For several years, Giovanni Domenico Tiepolo worked in Würzburg with his father, and in the mid-1770s, after his father's death, he returned to Venice. During this period, in addition to paintings of religious themes, the artist also created a large number of works about Venetian life.

The painter Giovanni Domenico Tiepolo died in March 1804.
