In 2015, Spanish sculptors Joan Coderch and Javier Malavia joined forces to co-create coderch & Malavia Sculptors. They skillfully shaped clay into dynamic bronze sculptures, co-creating three-dimensional figure sculptures inspired primarily by literature, poetry, theater, photography and ballet.

In this work, the artist applied two different colors to highlight the dynamic and three-dimensional nature of the sculpture. The upper part of the male figure is whitish in color, while the clothes and legs of the lower body are covered with brown. As they say: "Portraits are 3D, which is probably the main reason why sculpture appeals to us and is also the form of artistic expression that we love the most." ”

In this work, the female figure is depicted sitting underwater. Although it does not show pools or oceans, the sculptor hints at this fact with the lazy posture of the figure, her toes supported by the tip of her toes, small bubbles gathering on her skin, fluttering wavy hair, and the aqua blue sheen reveals a variety of details.

The most complex part of the whole creative process is how to coordinate and share the creative ideas of the two people, they must learn to trust partners, and be able to share ideas and work with each other, and most importantly, they must let go of themselves. Only by ensuring equal collaboration can we ultimately achieve artistic success.

The result of the collaborative creative approach is the birth of a series of intoxicating sculptural works. All of their statues seem to have their own interesting storylines, such as the woman holding a crow with her head bowed, as if she were a mysterious witch chanting a spell.

Perhaps for a dancer, every day that has not danced is a failure of life.

Together, the two create expressive sculptures that explore the dynamics and emotions associated with the human body. From striking ballet gestures to quiet, understated human gestures, their bronze statues capture many unique moments.

Sharing the creation of a work of art is complex and must have a tendency, while the sculptures created by Coderch & Malavia allow two different personalities to blend together artistically. Without the voice of the self, the two emotions can participate in the dialogue together, allowing the work to move between imagination and reality.

By combining the two artistic feelings, the duo communicates with each other and trusts each other, and this tacit understanding amplifies their achievements, allowing them to continue to create new brilliance based on the creativity of the other person.
