On April 28, the 2022 List of Asia's 50 Best Bars was officially released. This year's Asia's 50 Best Bars list is still voted on by 250 industry leaders from across Asia, including bartenders, bar owners, drinking authors, educators and cocktail enthusiasts.
This year, a total of 14 bars in China made the list, with Hong Kong's COA still winning the list, while seven Hong Kong-based bars and two Chinese Taipei-based bars made the list, while Chinese mainland had four on the list.
The COA Bar in Hong Kong, China, which topped the list, is lauded for its elaborate wine list and hospitality. In 2017, Jay Khan, a native of Hong Kong, China, loved Mexican spirits culture and created COA, a tequila-based cocktail bar in the SOHO neighborhood of Central. In less than 4 years, coa has leapt to the top ten bars in the world with its unique style and concept, winning many world awards such as "2021 Asia's 50 Best Bars No. 1" and "2021 World's Top 50 Bars No. 7".
Among the four Chinese mainland bars on the list are The Better Company (11), The Union Trading Company (45), Speak Low (50), and the Temple Ice Room in Guangzhou (18).
In addition, the awards have given special awards to a number of bars, including the Campari One To Watch Award for Hong Kong's Honky Tonks Tavern, the Roku Industry Icon Award for Colin Chia in Singapore, the Ketel One Sustainable Bar for Bar Mood in Taipei, and the Nikka Highest Climber Award for moo bar in Singapore And the Bar Trigona in Kuala Lumpur won Asia's first Siete Misterios Best Cocktail Menu Award.
