The strawberry season in Tajikistan has begun. Strawberries have recently become popular in Tajikistan.
Strawberries are not without reason to be called queens of berries, they are not only delicious but also extremely high in vitamins.
Acceptable price
Today, in the markets of different regions of Tajikistan, the price of 1 kilogram of strawberries is 6 to 25 somoni (about 3-13 yuan).
The lowest price for Bokhtar strawberries is 1 kg 6 somoni, while the highest price for Horog is 25 somoni. Dushanbe, the price at the end of April is 8 to 15 somoni per kilogram.
Varieties grown in Tajikistan
Strawberries sold in Tajikistan markets vary in size. Large strawberries are more attractive. But the big strawberries are not "stuffed" with fertilizer. Under natural ripening conditions, strawberry varieties such as "Russia", "Victoria", "Festivalny", "Albion" and other varieties have large fruits.
Sometimes, a strawberry can weigh as much as 100 grams.
Remontant strawberries differ from regular strawberries in that each season bears fruit twice: spring and autumn.
The strawberry planting season in Tajikistan is concentrated in July-August.
Tajikistan is not a strawberry country
The world produces more than 9 million tons of strawberries every year, and every inhabitant of the planet has 1.2 kilograms of strawberries per capita.
Among the Soviet countries, in terms of production (2020 data), the top three are Russia – 200,000 tonnes, Belarus – 88,000 tonnes and Ukraine – 62,000 tonnes.
Tajikistan produces about 3,000 tons of strawberries per year. 300-350 grams per person.
Most of Tajikistan's strawberries are produced in the Khatlon region, with strawberry plantations in the Suged and Gisar valleys.
In Central Asia, Uzbekistan produces 75,000 tons of strawberries per year, Kazakhstan 65,000 tons and Kyrgyzstan 22,000 tons.
The five largest strawberry producers in the world are: China 3.8 million tons, the United States 1.4 million tons, Mexico 470,000 tons, Egypt 450,000 tons and Turkey 415,000 tons.
In terms of strawberry production per capita, Belarus is the champion: 9.2 kg per capita ranks first in the world.
Since strawberry production in Central Asia is small, strawberry prices in 5 countries are higher than in Europe throughout the season.
