Folk think that the east side is very auspicious, the ancients often said "purple gas east to come", the east side of the door old ancestors also called it "Green Dragon Gate", so most people, will choose to open the door in the east.
And the south side to open the door is also a very good choice. The south side is also called "Suzaku Gate" in the mouth of the old ancestors, and the southeast side is also a good direction.
