Beirut, 1 May (Xinhua) -- This year's "May Day" is the second Labor Day spent in Lebanon by Guo Jia, an employee of China State Construction Co., Ltd.

As the chief engineer of the Chinese government's project to aid the construction of the Lebanese National Conservatory of Music, looking back on the arduous struggle of overseas construction in the past two years, 36-year-old Guo Jia said: "This is the first complete set of projects for China to aid Lebanon, which is the country's business card and window. Only by immersing ourselves in hard work and moving forward with courage and determination can we hand over the answer sheet that the country and the people are satisfied with. ”

Located in Dibayeh, near Beirut, lebanon's capital, the project covers an area of approximately 25,000 square metres and includes a teaching complex, a 1,200-seat professional concert hall and a 350-seat small concert hall with ancillary facilities. After the completion of the project, it will become a landmark building for China and Lebanon to jointly build the "Belt and Road" people-to-people exchanges, cultural exchanges and people-to-people ties.

In the past three years, Lebanon has suffered multiple crises, economic difficulties, and the global epidemic has brought many difficulties to the construction of music conservatory projects. At present, the project is the only large-scale project under construction in Lebanon and is steadily advancing towards the mid-term acceptance goal, which is inseparable from the selfless dedication and hard work of Chinese builders.

When Guo Jia received the task of assisting the construction in Lebanon, her son was only 3 months old and her daughter was 4 years old. After he went abroad, his wife took care of the outside of the house alone and did not let him be distracted. In this regard, he is sorry: "The couple who have been together for ten years has now become a long-distance relationship, and it is hard for my wife." ”

Guo Jia told reporters that after the outbreak of the epidemic in Lebanon, in the face of local political turmoil, shortage of epidemic prevention materials and other adverse effects, the project team took effective measures according to local conditions, epidemic prevention and production went hand in hand, while ensuring the steady progress of the project, while achieving the goal of "zero infection" in epidemic prevention.

Affected by the epidemic, the project staff shortage, engineer Tao Xiaoteng wears several positions, driving a pickup truck during the day to purchase production, living and epidemic prevention materials for the project, and working overtime at night to sort out materials and prepare project technical documents.

The recent crisis in Ukraine has had a strong impact on Lebanon, causing a shortage of daily necessities in Lebanon and also causing a surge in the cost of shipping building materials containers. Project manager Chen Gaoshan said: "I didn't expect the situation to be so changeable, which brought great challenges to the completion of the project on schedule. ”

Despite all the difficulties, Chinese builders stuck to the construction site and worked hard, striving to make the beautiful melody of Sino-Lebanese friendship play out in Lebanon's new music hall as soon as possible.

Before gao yinan, the project leader engineer, went to work in 2020 when the new crown epidemic was raging abroad, he resolutely chose to go overseas to work retrogradely. He said that the project has just started, and it is the most difficult time, and there is a shortage of personnel in the front. As a member of the Communist Party, when encountering difficulties, you should face the difficulties and bravely move forward, "Fang does not live up to the party emblem on his chest and the oath of joining the party in the past."

On the occasion of the "May Day" International Labor Day, the young man born in northern Shaanxi in 1994 said: "It is the true color of a boy to work hard; the courage to move forward is the responsibility of China State Construction." May Day is a festival for workers and a festival for thousands of builders in China. Chinese builders like me will dedicate their youth to the Chinese dream and the construction of the 'Belt and Road' with practical actions."
