Among the dwindling animal species on our planet, bears are often overlooked. It is generally believed that the woods are full of grizzly and black bears that prey on salmon and berries. Globally, however, the future of bear-eating mammal bears is less certain. An elegant coffee table book featuring the work of a famous wildlife photographer called Remembering bears aims to raise awareness and raise funds for conservation. The book includes stunning photographs of the world's only eight remaining bear species, six of which are listed as vulnerable or endangered.
Remember the Bear is the new publication in the Remember Wild Animals series. The album series was launched to raise funds for conservation efforts around the world. Within days of its launch on kickstarter, Remembering Bears exceeded its financial goals. The fund raised more than $160,000 through the sale of the game. All profits will go to conservation efforts around the world, many of which are in financial trouble due to the depletion of tourism in the pandemic.
The book was published with generous contributions from images provided by famous photographers from around the world. These include Marsel van Oosten, Art Wolfe, Frans Lanting, Greg du Toit and Daisy Gilardini. The cover image of the polar bear was taken by Morten Jørgensen. The artists tracked wild animals and set up action-trigger cameras to capture stunning images of American black bears, Andean bears, Asian black bears, brown bears, giant pandas, polar bears, sloth bears, and sun bears. The magnificence and power of these creatures mask the challenges they face with habitat erosion, human activity and other factors.
