Tang Wen: Be the guardian of the people's health

Central Broadcasting Network Urumqi May 1 news (reporter Song Min intern Wang Xue) "Recently, what is going on, is there anything uncomfortable?" "Well, it's been half a year, and I'm going to review it." Early in the morning, in the thoracic surgery office of the Third People's Hospital of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Deputy Chief Physician Tang Wen was following up on patients who had been treated earlier. Almost every day, he has to take time to understand the changes in the patient's condition, so that the diagnosis and treatment plan can be adjusted in a timely manner.

Tang Wen is the deputy director of the Department of Thoracic Surgery of the Third People's Hospital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, a member of the Thoracic Surgery Professional Committee of the Tuberculosis Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, a member of the China Thoracic Wall Surgery Alliance, and the deputy head of the Pulmonary Small Nodule Diagnosis and Treatment Center of the Third People's Hospital of the Autonomous Region.

Although small lung nodules are common in the clinic, their development is uncertain over time. In 2017, there was such a patient who impressed Tang Wen very much. During the physical examination, the 69-year-old patient found a small 11 mm lung nodule, but when the three-month follow-up time came, the patient did not come. Tang Wen was not at ease, and after many urgings, the patient finally came. After a review, it was found that the patient's small lung nodule had grown to 14 mm, and after thoracoscopic surgery, it was determined that it was an early lung cancer.

With the development of mobile communication technology, doctor-patient communication has broken through the limitations of time and geography. With the help of WeChat and telephone to understand the changes in the patient's condition, it has become something that Tang Wen will do every day, click on the WeChat address book, and the patient accounts for more than half.

"When I first went to work, due to the limited technical level at that time, coupled with the lack of awareness of residents' health examinations and the lack of attention to examination, many cancers that could be found and solved early were dragged to the advanced stage." Memories of his early days in the industry made him determined to change that.

"Regular examination", "pay attention to health problems", "can not ignore small hairy diseases", he often and patients, relatives and people around him such "nagging", "to forty years old must have a sense of physical examination", "do not smoke, no symptoms do not take lightly, early cancer is characterized by no symptoms ..."

At the same time as "nagging", we must constantly improve our own level in order to provide better diagnosis and treatment for patients. In 2014, he made a special trip to Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital to learn thoracoscopic surgical techniques, and in a year's time, he continued to learn, simulate exercises, repeatedly observed the surgical imaging data of old physicians, delved into various academic forums, and finally mastered the "single-hole thoracoscopic" minimally invasive surgical technique.

Tang Wen told reporters that the fewer the opening, the smaller the hole, the less harmful to the patient's body. Single-hole thoracoscopic surgery is to open a hole of about 3-4 cm in the lateral chest wall, and the operation is completed in this hole, which is very difficult and requires a high level of professional and technical skills of doctors.

At present, single-hole thoracoscopic surgery accounts for 90% of the thoracic surgery in the Third People's Hospital.

In addition to learning advanced technology, he has accumulated a wealth of work experience in early diagnosis and surgical treatment over the years, and the diagnosis and localization of small lung nodules are more accurate.

After nearly two decades of thoracic surgery and seeing tens of thousands of nodule cases, he summed up a set of his own experiences. For high-risk nodules, he will actively intervene and take timely measures; for low-risk nodules that are not accurate for a while, he will track the changes of the nodules in time, understand the development of the nodules through repeated follow-up, do not easily let go of a high-risk nodule, and will not blindly remove the middle and low-risk nodules.

"Be sure to have regular physical examinations and contact professional doctors for assessment when problems are found, so that some diseases can be snuffed out at an early stage." The prevention and treatment of occupational diseases is to prevent first, cure later, so I am willing to be an advocate of health awareness and stick to the health of the people. Tang Wen said firmly with a firm look in his eyes.
