Old Mountain Sandalwood – Manjushri Puxian

Manjushri is the bodhisattva representing Prajnaparamita (wisdom), Puxian is the bodhisattva representing the practice (Rieter), and Puxian's practice confirms manjushri's wisdom, and the fusion of the two expresses the Mahayana Buddhist ideal of the unity of wisdom and action.

This work is made of the best alcoholized old mountain, and Manjushri and Puxian two bodhisattvas are sitting on a stone platform, next to brahmin flowers. The bodhisattva wears a crown of Shakya flowers, rounded earlobes, high buns, a strict cloud top, a full and plump face, a dignified and serene and kind look, a wide shoulder and a thin waist, a chest full of glitter, a gown draped over the shoulders, a skirt underneath, and also a full of glittering steps. Manjushri Bodhisattva holds a meandering lotus branch in both hands, and Puxian Bodhisattva holds Ruyi with both hands, and the shape has a distinct Chinese Buddhist style, which is solemn and sacred.
