The craft of Hmong silver jewelry forging is complex and includes the four steps of drawing, weaving, carving and coiling. And these complex processes are splicing several small parts together, and it is impossible to make exquisite works without thousands of hammers and ingenious techniques.
Wu Shuigen has been learning this craft from his father since he was 7 years old, and his works have reached more than 200 kinds. His special skill is to make dragon heads, and after sixty processes, he makes the eyes, nose, and tongue of the dragon in a single line, and finally becomes a three-dimensional dragon.
While constantly improving the Miao silver jewelry forging technology, in 2010, Wu Shuigen also established the Intangible Cultural Heritage Poverty Alleviation Employment Workshop, he broke the "Miao silver jewelry craft is not passed on outside" regulations, widely recruited apprentices, taught skills for free, trained a group of young craftsmen, for the protection and inheritance of intangible cultural heritage in Taijiang County, the development and prosperity of the masses has a great driving role.
